Note from shop owner Thanks for stopping by to check out my scratch-baked, hand-sculpted artisan cake pops! Sweet Whimsy Shop will be taking a break in early 2017, as we prepare for the arrival our first child, due in early February. Reopening is expected for mid- to late-March. We have had the opportunity to get these lovely and tasty works of art on a few occasions. They are always of high quality. Super cute and amazingly uniform (both important when sharing these with small humans ;-)). And even better is that they taste as great as they look. The cake in these pops is moist and flavorful. I hope you create a reason to need these! They are a very easy centerpiece to any celebration in our house. Thank you, Becca!!

About

Scratch-baked, hand-sculpted cake pops. Tiny, tasty art...on a stick! :)

Over Christmas break (from my career as a middle school art teacher) in 2010, I purchased Angie Dudley's book "Cake Pops: Tips, Tricks, and Recipes for More Than 40 Irresistible Mini Treats" (available on www.bakerella.com), because I was amazed by the photography I saw in the online previews...and also because I don't need much of an excuse to purchase cute craft, baking, or (food) decorating books! Once the book arrived, I excitedly studied the photos, instructions, and tips, and finally put them to use for a coworker's birthday a few weeks later. In honor of an elusive mouse that had made its home in her classroom (and was consequently driving her mad), I created mice and cheese slice cake pops...which she found hilarious. Months later, I made a few dozen Spring-themed cake pops to sell at a festival alongside my soldered glass jewelry, and everyone loved them (more than the jewelry!). The next summer, I made the decision to step away - indefinitely - from teaching, to begin Sweet Whimsy Shop, currently an online cake pops business, with dreams of more!

It is very important to me that everything I bake/make tastes as good as it looks. For that reason, I've chosen to bake everything from scratch (instead of using boxed cake mixes and canned frostings). To make my cake pops, I start by baking a full sheet cake (from flour, sugar, eggs, butter, milk, vanilla, baking powder, and salt....and a few other ingredients, depending on the flavor). Once the baked cake cools, I mix it with a from-scratch frosting (envision an entire frosted cake or cupcake being tossed into and mixed up in a mixer). The cake & frosting combo forms a pliable mixture that I sculpt (or roll) into the basic shape of the cake pop. That mini sculpture of "cake dough" is then placed on a lollipop stick, then carefully dipped into melted chocolate. Sometimes, I add decorations like sprinkles, sanding sugar, or candies, while the chocolate is still warm/unset. For other designs, the decorations or details are added after the chocolate has hardened/cooled. I often use melted chocolate to pipe details, in the same way a cake decorator might use a pastry bag to pipe icing designs on cakes.

Regardless of how/when each cake pop is decorated, the result is the same: a tiny, tasty, handmade piece of art. My cakes pops are not made in a mass-production, or mechanized process. I don't simply combine a boxed cake mix with eggs, water, and oil, then pour the solution into an electric cake pop maker or into circular cups in a baking pan, and then dip those "prefab" cake balls into chocolate. The process I've chosen is much more labor-intensive, with a greater commitment to quality, and with careful attention to detail. My clients value that kind of quality and recognize that they are getting so much more than "just" a cake pop. I love what I do, I take a lot of pride in how I do it, and I'm so very grateful for my faithful clients who support my craft and business!

Shipping
Please allow up to 4-6 weeks for your order to be baked and shipped, unless other arrangements have been made prior to purchase.

Free local pick-up is available year-round in the Savannah, GA (Richmond Hill) area, within zipcode 31324. Please contact me before placing your order to make time/date/location arrangements.

From November through early April, I ship via USPS Priority (estimated 2-3 day transit to most places), but faster/expedited shipping can be set up if needed (contact me for a quote). It is too hot to ship (from Savannah, GA - where I live) during the spring, summer, & early fall months, unless cake pops are shipped overnight with ice packs (which can be arranged). And, please contact me before placing your order, if you have a specific event/deadline. Cake pops will stay fresh at room temperature for about 10 days. No need to refrigerate, but you should keep them out of heat (chocolate melts quickly!)

FYI: USPS Priority is not a guaranteed service. The 2-3 day estimate is just that: only an estimate, not a guarantee. 98% of the time, USPS Priority packages are delivered within that window. However, if your package arrives later, USPS will offer no compensation, nor will I, if I have shipped in accordance with the USPS Priority estimate for your zipcode.
Refunds and Exchanges
All purchases are nonrefundable, and not eligible for return.

Lots of time, effort, and energy go into making every cake pop perfect, just for you! If you are unsatisfied with your cake pops, please contact me immediately, so I can fix the problem - and keep you a happy customer :)

I will make sure your sweet treats are packed with great love & care to ensure safe travel to your destination. For this reason, I cannot be held responsible for what happens to your package once the USPS or UPS (or FedEx) takes control of your package. If you would like to purchase insurance for your package, please make arrangements with me BEFORE placing your order. Insurance will cover damages beyond the standard $50 (USPS) or $100 (UPS & FedEx) limited liability for shipments. Please keep in mind that insurance will not cover weather-related damages (i.e. if the chocolate-coated cake pops melt from the heat), or shipping delays (i.e. if a delay during transit results in the cake pops being delivered after the event).

Please also be aware that I cannot be held responsible for weather-related, mechanical, or comparable shipping delays. Likewise, I cannot assume responsibility for packages that arrive later than estimated/scheduled, if shipped on time, as determined by the schedule set by USPS, UPS, or FedEx. In other words, if the package is delayed/lost/damaged after the shipping company obtains possession of it, I will not assume liability, and the client will not be reimbursed for items that were shipped on time, but were delayed because of a shipping company error or delay. Should a package get delayed in transit, I will make every effort to work as a liaison between my client and the shipping company to arrange for delivery (or pick-up at the local shipping center) before the scheduled event. However, in the rare case that the package is delayed until after the event, there will be no reimbursement, unless the contents were damaged (please note the process for filing a damage claim, as explained below).

These policies are consistent with Etsy's policies, as outlined here: https://www.etsy.com/help/article/4521?ref=trust - and noted specifically: "Etsy doesn't hold sellers responsible for shipping delays or errors, as long as the seller is able to prove that they shipped the item"

Should you need to file a claim for damages, you will need photos as documentation of the damages. Additionally, KEEP YOUR BOX AND ALL THE PACKING CONTENTS. UPS may need to do an on-site inspection. If you discard your box (and/or the contents inside), UPS will automatically deny the claim (even if you have photographs).

Please photograph the following:

1. The outside of the box, showing the shipping label and all stickers attached. Be sure to show any damage to the outside of the box.

2. If you suspect damages inside (before you actually unpack the box), take a photo of the interior packaging, before you unpack the contents.

3. Once all cake pops have been unpacked, photograph the any damages. Line them up and photograph the entire collection at once. If only a few are damaged, group those together next to a group of the undamaged cake pops, and photograph both groups together, in the same photo.

4. Photograph close-ups of damages on individual cake pops.

*UPS CUSTOMERS, please read the list of specific photos that UPS will require:
1. A photo of the damaged item.

2. A photo showing the damaged merchandise, inside the original box, with all of the original cushioning (picture should show the placement of the merchandise and packaging inside the box)

3. A photo of the packaging material used inside box (e.g. bubble wrap, Styrofoam peanuts, cardboard dividers, etc.)

4. A close-up photo of the shipping label with tracking number (please zoom in enough to read the tracking number which usually begins with 1Z)

5. A close-up photo of the box manufacturer’s certificate (BMC), if available. The BMC is a round stamp that details either the bursting strength of the box or the edge crush rating of the box. The BMC is generally found on a bottom flap on the outside of a corrugated cardboard box.

6. & 7. Two photos displaying all 6 sides of the package (1 photo should display the top and 2 sides, the 2nd photo should display the bottom and the opposite sides).

8. Dimensions of the box including the package height, length, and width provided in the body of the email.

***Keep in mind that unless you have purchased insurance, you will be limited in what you can recover damages for. USPS Priority includes $50 insurance and USPS Express includes $100. UPS has a limited liability of $100. Both USPS & UPS offer the option to purchase more insurance (before the package is shipped). Please contact me (before your package is scheduled for shipment) to purchase additional insurance ****
