Announcement   Welcome to Melissa Encaustics, featuring artwork by Melissa Schneider of Savannah, Ga. The shop sells photographs and photo encaustics, which are original photographs lushly layered with purified beeswax and fine oil tints.

My photography is inspired by the coastal southeast region - from Beaufort, SC, to Savannah and Tybee Island, Ga., southward to the sea islands of Georgia's Atlantic coast - the history, the changing tides and the possibilities of the present are all the muse for my camera.

Along with the artwork you see listed, custom pieces can be ordered. If you don't see a size that fits your need, please contact me.

Photograph were not ready to be framed. I ordered 8 x 10, but prints were not cut to size. Paper quality was ok but the prints were not the best quality. Not professional, it looked like a home job. It's sad because I really liked the images, but I'm not going to be putting photographs up. They are overall low-quality prints. I would

I am very sorry that you were not pleased with your two prints. In order to avoid and creasing that may occur when rolling a small print to slide into a tube/long box I, I usually give the print a nice long edge. It costs me extra to do that (the paper is around $3.85 per sheet) but I want the prints to arrive in good condition. The paper that was used is Museo Silver Rag, a very high quality cotton rag, 360 gsm, that is above and beyond industry standard. The print was made on a professional grade Epson printer and chroma inks were used. Again, this is industry standard. This is the first complaint I have received since opening my shop four years ago, but I am very sorry that the prints did not meet with your satisfaction.

Two Savannah Artists Present New Works Inspired by Their Visit to Monet’s Garden, Giverny.

SAVANNAH, Ga., March 1, 2016 - Expressionist painter Tiffani Taylor and photographic encaustic artist Melissa Schneider visited Giverny, the gardens of Claude Monet in August 2015. The friends met up in Paris and made an easy day trip by rail to tiny Vernon, France, home to the sprawling floral and water gardens. In celebration of that memory both artists were inspired to create artwork for their joint exhibit, “Light in the Garden: Two Artists Meet Monet.” The paintings and encaustic photographs will be on view to the public at the Tiffani Taylor Gallery beginning Saturday, April 9, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the regularly scheduled Savannah Art Walk. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Taylor and Schneider will also debut 4 collaborative pieces, each one a combined effort of both artists and their mediums, during the Andaz Artist Salon, on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Sponsored by the Andaz hotel and 22 Square restaurant, from
5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., guests can enjoy French-inspired cuisine while the artists share the magic of Giverny through their recent experience and respective mediums. The evening will conclude with a short walk to the Tiffani Taylor Gallery where the entire exhibit can be viewed.
