About

Pursuing a burning desire to...Keep Calm and Create

I have always had a creative heart and mind and a deep seeded reverence for wood and all things made from it. In my humble opinion nothing compares to the warmth and beauty of natural things, particularly wood. Wooden furniture...wooden utensils...wooden art; if it is made of wood, it speaks to the heart. I love to create and work with my hands and have been doing so for more years than I care to relate right now. With such a deep desire to be creative, I find myself wondering everyday how it is that I make my living working with computers in "the real world". Life is nothing if not unpredictable.

I am a self taught artist and craftsman who spends as much of my spare time as possible in pursuit of creation. I enjoy drawing, painting, making jewelry and most of all...the art of pyrography, or literally, "fire writing". Pyrography allows me to combine two of favorite creative pursuits, art/drawing and working with wood (or more recently, cork).

I started my Etsy shop because of the encouragement I received from friends and family to share, (and maybe make a little extra money) my work with others. I had sold some pieces on eBay before but, the Etsy concept really appealed to me. I am told that perhaps my biggest problem, is that I am never satisfied with my work. But, I ask you, what artist is ever truly satisfied with their work?

As anyone who has stopped by my shop before knows, it has always been more about pyrography than anything else, even though I will occasionally throw something else into the mix. I continue to focus on pyrography and am constantly experimenting with differing techniques and mediums, (i.e., leather and paper) and love working with wood but, lately cork has become a new favorite. That being said, you see that the cork coaster line-up is expanding.

At any rate, everything you see in my shop listings is entirely handcrafted by me. I don't use machines of any kind, (except for the pyrography sets of course) in the creation of my work. There are no lasers, no etchers, no engravers, no machines of any type...only me, my pyro sets and occasionally...one of our dogs but, she isn't much help ( you know, it's that whole opposable thumbs thing). Besides, she sleeps most of the time anyway!

So, for all of the reasons listed above, no two pieces will ever be exactly the same! Regardless of the pattern or how many times it may be used, the end result of the process is a high quality, long lasting, OOAK, (One-Of-A-Kind) piece! This is particularly true with my coaster sets. Just by the very nature of the craft itself, being done by hand means that the no two pieces will be exactly the same size and/or shape and why you will, most likely, find subtle differences in the burned designs. These should not be thought of as “errors”, “flaws” or mistakes” but rather, a tell-tale sign that you have a lovingly handcrafted work of art.

If you have a favorite TV show, sports team, quote, expression or design/ pattern you'd like to see on your table or bar as a set of coasters? Perhaps you have a bare spot on your wall that is just crying out for a hand pyrographed piece to fill it. Or, maybe you need a special, unique, personal gift idea? Please let me know and I will be happy to work with you to create something very special just for you!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I'd love to hear from you!

Thank you again for taking some of your time to spend in my shop. If you like what you see, be sure to mark us as a Favorite because I have hopes of being able to update the inventory often so you will want to check back.

Along with my preferred payment method of PayPal, I now accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards. If payment cannot be made within forty eight (48) hours from the time of purchase, I will assume that you have had a change of heart and will cancel the order…no worries. Custom/personalized orders are also expected to be paid, “up front” at the time of the order.
Shipping
At this time, I offer shipping within the USA and to Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union. All items that are currently in stock, will ship within three (3) business days after payment is received and will be shipped via USPS Mail and includes delivery confirmation fees if applicable. Priority Mail shipping available upon request, buyer pays additional fees.
However, if you prefer an alternate shipping method, (UPS, FedEx etc.) please let us know and I will be happy to work with you.
Those ordering a custom/personalized piece should expect to have the item ship in two to three (2-3) weeks, from the time the order is placed. This could be less depending on the complexity of the item; for example, custom/personalized coaster orders will ship within 3 to 5 business days. All custom/personalized orders are also expected to be paid, up front at the time of the order.

Insurance on all shipments is available upon request at buyer discretion and at an additional charge. These rates are determined by the United States Postal Service, or the carrier specified by the customer.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Please be aware that shipping charges cover the costs of shipping ONLY. Your country may require additional taxes, duties or customs fees that are the responsibility of YOU, the buyer.
Refunds and Exchanges
Since all items are hand crafted and essentially, “one-of-a-kind”, and no two items will be identical, I am afraid that exchanges are simply not possible. However, if you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you may return the item, in original condition, (except for custom/personalized items, no returns are allowed on these items.) within seven (7) days of receipt and we will gladly refund the purchase price. The buyer will be responsible for paying the return shipping charges.
Additional policies and FAQs
I welcome requests for custom orders and will be delighted to work with you on any special requests.
• Currently, I can offer personalization of most pyrographed items and will happily discuss custom pieces that you might have in mind, just start a “conversation” with us and I’ll see what can be done to accommodate your request.
• Requests for personalization will generally require a conversation regarding the font that is desired for a particular item.
• If you see an item you like but, are not prepared to make the purchase right away, please let me know a time frame in which you are planning to purchase and I can “reserve” the item for you until that time. Please try to limit any “reserve request” to a two (2) week, (or less) time frame.
• Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time with any questions regarding any item in my shop, or anything else you might wish to know.
