Beautiful, as always!!
From Coloring Pages to Dinnerware
I think I became an artist around the age of 3, when crayons were clearly my favorite items to play with. It seems my problem solving skills came to play at this time too because I would often break my crayons in half, explaining to my parents that this way two people could use the same color at the same time (being an only child until the age of 6, I wasn't a big fan of sharing). I'm pretty sure that this "solution-finding" mindset is part of what later made me want to become an entrepreneur.
The joy I get in creatively fusing two different worlds together can probably be attributed to my not-so-typical upbringings, which I increasingly became aware of from an early age. My mom was born and raised in South Korea and my dad, in India. With very different cultural backgrounds, they still found that they had a lot in common and went forth in creating a beautifully unique life together. Cuisine from various regions of India and Korea became the norm for me. My mom was a master chef (in my eyes) and was always mixing and matching flavors and recipes from around the world. I think it's safe to say, I had a bit of a foodie's curiosity by the time I began high school.
It's no wonder I love applying art to dinnerware! I envision my champagne flutes being clinked together at weddings, my coffee cups starting someone's day off right, and my wine glasses being paired with comforting meals as I paint each and every one of these pieces. I strive to illustrate connective elements such as aspects of nature, romance, and nostalgia in ways that will enhance and personalize the dining experience. My style is vibrant, whimsical, intricate, and at times minimalistic.
It feels important to express how fulfilling it is to interact with customers on a daily basis. It's an aspect of running this shop I hadn't considered would play such a big role in inspiring new ideas and understanding what excites people about gifting. I've enjoyed so many lovely conversations with people from around the world this way and these exchanges always energize me in what I do :)
Thank you for learning a bit more about me and my shop!
