Well, I can't say enough good things about the shop! Not only can you be assured that you're supporting a great cause, but using this lip balm is complete luxury. The quality is amazing! I'm glad I purchased 7 sticks; I know I'll be a frequent Crafty Lemon shopper :-)

My boyfriend has already gone through his first bottle and he uses it every morning and night! He says it's helping his beard grow and it soothes his dry skin and hair so well.

My new (and only) favorite chapstick. Ever since going chemical free I couldn't find an organic lip balm that was up to my standards. This stuff is so great, the basil eucalyptus is my favorite <3

About

A suburban hippie on a crafty mission!!

Hi,

My name's Amanda (a.k.a. The Crafty Lemon) and welcome to my Etsy shop! Here you will find the products behind the mission, one thats main goal is to bring crafting back to the community while putting chemical-free personal care and household products into your hands......along with my love for tie dye and other handcrafted oddities that entertain my creative side. First though, a little more about myself and the evolution of the lemon!!

Never really health conscious aside from what you “know” you should do, a life changing health scare in 2011 made me take a serious look at the man-made chemicals I was putting in my mouth and on my body. At the time, I was seventy pounds overweight, stressed to the max and living a life that a lot of people get caught up in as they attempt to conquer all that the world throws at them. My health was the last thing I was focusing on and a “come to Jesus” meeting hosted by the universe was the result. Long dramatic story short, waking up in the hospital was terrifying, but also what put me on a personal journey towards a much needed physical and mental health transformation. I started eating a more whole foods based diet and less processed food while learning about things like essential oils and what I call #chemfreelivin. I started taking time to reflect on stressful situations instead of pounding another Red Bull to power through and accomplish more. I even began doing really "hippie" things like crafting my own lip balm, laundry detergent and household cleaner. ;)

Then in 2013 while being well on my way down the path to better health, my word of resolution was to “create.” I’ve never been a fan of New Year’s resolutions, but this was the first year I went with only a single word. My husband (The Crafty Mister!!) and I are perpetual hobbyists, so my goal was to reignite some of our hobby passions that had also taken a back seat during the more unhealthy days. Little did I know that by August, this one word would manifest itself into a purpose and plan focused on helping change the lives of those around me for the better, all through the power of health, crafting and the intention of love.

REWIND!! Shortly after New Years, we met a family of five that live in our neighborhood, and I immediately become surrogate “Aunt Amanda” to the three kids....my husband and I have made the choice to not have children of our own, but instead adore, love and spoil the ones that my friends graciously bring into our lives. All very creative and artistic, these three brought me up to speed on the craftiest YouTube channels like My Froggy Stuff (Check her out! She makes amazing doll accessories using common things around the house like straws. #swoon), but also what’s happening in our school system for the kids like me who benefited greatly from creative outlets and programs like art. Due to school budget constraints though, these programs are typically the first cut. I’m not an artist by any means, but having a creative outlet through crafting is something that’s always been my happy place and is even scientifically proven to offer benefits both mentally and emotionally. I like glue guns, glitter and pipe cleaners....and guess what? So do kids!! From there, My Crafty Neighbor was born.

In August of 2013 our underlying mission of #projectspreadcreativity kicked off with a neighborhood focused non-profit (My Crafty Neighbor) geared towards nurturing craftsmanship and healthier living back into the community. While our future plans for expansion are extensive, we’ve taken baby steps since and falling in love with the kids in my community was the true start for The Crafty Lemon. Through “Craft Club”, a monthly event for the kids in our neighborhood, little crafters unite for crafting camaraderie and a lunch of organic deliciousness. We craft, we eat, and we usually end the day burning off some energy while dancing around outside. Now having celebrated our third anniversary, this is just the first free service that works to accomplish our mission of putting health and happiness back into the community through an outlet I’m both passionate about and love. Crafting!!

Now 501c3 classified, My Crafty Neighbor’s growth will be determined by the support of others, but also the success of me as The Crafty Lemon. Partnering things like chemical-free living which was crucial to my own health transformation with my own need to create, TCL product line was born. Simply put, you buy our products and your money goes back to the community. So help us put a lifestyle of greener living (and other crafted goodness) into your hands and the art of craftiness back into our world; one child, one household and one neighborhood at a time.

Much love and jazz hands,
~Amanda
