I am a professional artist working in Boulder Colorado. I create Original works of art on Venetian Plaster. Creating art has provided me with a life long expressive outlet, a way of processing and examining my personal experiences and beliefs as well as sharing my spirit and connecting with the world. I develop imagery that pays homage to the union between the natural world and the human spirit. I begin by creating a background rich in layers using Venetian Plaster, a medium that consists of ground marble and lime. This medium has depth, its historical roots date back to the Renaissance period and the art of fresco. It has been through this medium that I have discovered my artistic voice, by mimicking the art of fresco the materials age and become one with the plaster. I use transparency when painting wildlife to symbolize timelessness, combined with the plaster an ancient energy of the human spirit and the environment are intertwined and connected as a whole. I use a mix of earth pigments, acrylics and oils to explore and push the boundaries. My intention is to engage and invoke questions and reflections by the viewer as they recognize and interpret meaning or associations for themselves.
