Original logbooks for leisure boating, from Denmark
Taffrail Press is a small, independent publisher of logbooks for leisure boating, based in Denmark. Our team brings more than 10 years of experience advising on and designing logbooks for the merchant fleet. Today we put that know-how into logbooks for leisure boaters, anglers and divers.
The name comes from the back of a boat. The taffrail is the rail around the stern, and in the days of sail a "taffrail log" was the little spinner towed from it to count the miles run. Our logbooks do the same job for a modern day on the water: the miles, the hours, the crew, the catch, the dives and the moments worth remembering, all in one place.
WHAT WE MAKE
41 original, coil-bound logbooks, each designed page by page to be written in with a ballpoint or pencil:
- Regional sailing logs: SF Bay, Chesapeake, Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, San Diego, Long Island Sound, Narragansett Bay, Maine, the Florida Keys, Tampa Bay, Southwest Florida and Biscayne Bay. Also the Solent, the South Funen Archipelago, Stockholm and the Bohuslän coast, Kiel Bay, Sydney Harbour and the Hauraki Gulf.
- Lakes & rivers: the Great Loop, the Great Lakes, the Thousand Islands, the River Thames, the Rhine & Moselle, the Staande Mastroute, the IJsselmeer, Lake Constance and Lake Garda.
- Fishing: a boat angler's catch log, an offshore tag-and-release log and a Biscayne Bay flats log.
- Diving: a 100-dive scuba logbook, a Florida Keys reef & wreck log, a dive boat deck log and a freediving & spearfishing log.
- Motorboat cruising, boat maintenance and charter skipper's sea-miles logs.
PERSONALISED EDITIONS
Every title also comes as a personalised edition, with your boat name (or your own name, for divers and anglers) on the cover. We email you a PDF proof before anything is printed.
PRINTED TO ORDER
We don't keep a warehouse full of books. When you order, our production partner, Lulu Press, Inc., prints, coil-binds and ships your logbook from one of its local print sites. Coil binding means the book lies flat on the chart table, the dashboard or the dive-boat bench. Printing to order takes a few extra days, but nothing is wasted and every copy is fresh.
A FEW HONEST NOTES
- Our logbooks are record books, not navigation aids. Any map in them is a sketch panel marked "Not for navigation". Always use official charts and tide predictions.
- Until our own printed copies arrive, the book pictures in this shop are digital mockups made from the print files. The page close-ups show the real page designs.
