TafuriStudios' Shop Announcement

Our regular stock leather is 100% Genuine Leather (never bonded), non-toxic, eco-safe & USA MADE. Even the cows are American. Why choose our leather over the competitors? Because we always put your health and safety before our profits.

We partner with some of the best US tanneries to provide you with an eco-safe product. We purchase two main types of leather. *Chrome-tanned* leather is created using a stabilized tanning process, and drum-dyed for a full saturation of rich color. This leather is typically 4-5oz thickness, and perfect for jewelry. For our *Veg-tanned tooling leather* we use only water based dyes, and natural oils and waxes. Our exclusive 11-step dying process is finalized with several applications of a sweet natural wax coating that can be "re-activated" with a soft cotton cloth. This not only helps clean your leather, but will add to the softness, and creates a better wax fill in the grain, to minimize any bleeding from moisture. Our hand-dyed tooling leather is a labor of love, and sadly, we may be replacing it this year. The process is labor intensive and expensive to maintain. But we still have a LOT in inventory- so get it while you can. :)

*ABOUT OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE*
We pride ourselves on our stellar FIVE STAR feedback rating! Because our Etsy customers can tell you about our products and service FAR better than we can, take a moment to review our five star reviews: https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/TafuriStudios/reviews?ref=shop_info

We may be an itty bitty family run studio, with a big family and day jobs and night jobs and projects coming out of our ears, yet we're proud that we still manage to offer reasonable shipping times, excellent customer service AND a quality product.

*CONTACTING US*
While we love to be of service to our customers, we also have busy lives. We only check and respond to e-mails and messages Tue-Friday, and the rest of the week is reserved for studio and family time. Typically you will receive a 48-hour response over the weekends, and no more than a 24 hour response on weekdays. We prefer contact through our Etsy shop. Thank you!

*HUMOROUS DISCLAIMERS*
Leather is a natural product because - cows. Ours has a hand-made look because - people. Sections of leather sides can vary in thickness & firmness, & can also take dyes differently. Items can feature brand marks & scarring caused by the normal activity of being an animal or the marks that occur during leather tanning and dying processes.

Our dying process for our firm tooling leather is an 11-step process, that not only applies several coats of water based eco-safe dyes, but seals it in using layers of waxes and natural oils. We hand rub that stuff in, one layer at a time, buffing each piece with a soft cotton cloth, all to protect it from dye bleeding. In the process the leather softens. It will soften even more when you wear it. If you find it does not arrive soft enough, and you can smell or see that sweet bee's wax coating, grab an old tee shirt and start buffing. You'll shine her up and soften her in no time. And you'll love the smell. ;)

When we are choosing pieces for your order, we hand select the best GENUINE LEATHER pieces that we have available in our inventory & offer the safest and best quality genuine supple & tooling leathers available on the US leather market; but our leather is not perfect, nor is it water proof, bullet proof or fire proof. So please do not wear when performing super hero activities like saving the universe from monsters. Unless it's Zombies. Everyone knows that zombies can't bite through leather. So stock up because we've been hearing rumors. ;)

Thanks for trusting us with your hard earned dollars. We'll be sure we earn them as well and if you find your experience anything less than pleasant- please let us know.

*RETURN POLICY*
Tafuri Studios is a family run business, offering hand crafted leather pieces for Jewelry designers, created by husband and wife team Mary & Blue Tafuri, with help from our kiddos (all big's, not littles). Each family craftsperson makes careful quality leather choices for your products and takes individual pride in the craftsmanship needed to cut, dye and treat each piece. But we are all human- so we DO make mistakes. We handle all returns on a case-by-case basis, and reserve the right to refuse a refund. But this has only happened twice. So mostly, we're just nice and replace it for you.

HOW TO USE LEATHER:
Check out our Tools Section in our store for starter tools for leather jewelry making. For a very small investment, you could be adding your beads, metal and fabric to our leather, using riveting methods, or tying with sinew. http://www.etsy.com/shop/TafuriStudios?section_id=8027128

Leather is great for screen printing or image transferring, laser etching, tooling and more. Add stamps, or hand cut intricate shapes. Paint using acrylic paints, sharpies, or staz-on inks. Add spots or rivets for a trendy look.
