Oh, Nance, your fabulous hammered hoops just arrived and they are SPECTACULAR! I LOVE them! The modifications you made are even better than I was imagining them. The earthy, artisan feel of them is just what I need---immediately recognizable as made by a jewelry artiste, NOT spit out from a machine. Yippee! You should highlight that little sterling ball at the end of the wire where it attaches to the earring---it's an eye-catching detail that adds to your earrings' unique charm. And your husband's soap is to die for! What a delightful fragrance! Until I use up the frangranced soap I have, I may just leave it here in my office for the pleasure of smelling it every day. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me! Gratefully, Dalene
Artist and metal smith working with fire and precious metals.
I am an artist first - a designer and explorer of beauty and nature. Taking the torch in hand I anneal and forge my way blending natural stones and precious metals into wearable art.
Tahoe Jewelry and Art is a cedar and pine, passive solar studio conceived in my mind when I was at college. I built it in a sunny spot overlooking the Sierra Mountains in the area we commonly call "Tahoe" - Lake Tahoe, but not on it's banks. I am in Truckee, near the Truckee River which flows from "Big Blue." I built, put in roots, landscaped, painted, skied, hiked, explored this area and worked very hard.
I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC with a major in Textile Design. After moving west I worked in Graphic Design, and as an Artist-in-Residence teaching fine art in the Reno area to children and at the Nevada Museum of Art to adults. Now my work is centered in my studio making jewelry. The work is always evolving with each new inspiration.
I have a second shop for my paintings - RiverLilyArt/etsy. One piece has been purchased by Etsy and hangs in the corporate office in San Francisco. It is a mixed media weaving. Also see new things first at Instagram @artnanceart or #tahoejewelryandart.
