5 out of 5 starsAbsolutely amazing service. The product came so fast in a beautiful box. My partner was so happy with the item and it has such a good weight to it. He has worn it every day since and was over the moon with the craftsmanship of the Mjolnir. Thank you so much.

5 out of 5 starsBottom Line Up Front (BLUF): I love it!
Caveats: When I first got it, I thought "Is this plastic?!". No it isn't. But the protective wax covering it comes with and the fact that it doesn't weigh as much as I expected can manifest that illusion. But wear it for a few weeks and you'll see. The covering comes off and it feels like iron; textured but smooth, solid and firm but not inflexible or brittle. Very comfortable. -

Taitaya Forge
“Taitaja” is a Finnish word meaning a person that is skilled or a master of a craft. We chose to call our enterprise this because it reflected our aspirations as craftsmen & artists. Our path is still one of learning and will continue to be so as long as we create by hammer and fire.
Taitaya Forge is a partnership by artist-blacksmiths Luke & Marleena Barran. Our forge is located in the beautiful English countryside, in an old stone barn on the Isle of Wight. We have been working together for over ten years producing metalwork ranging from contemporary jewellery and design, bladesmithing and traditional blacksmithing to historical reproduction work and costume jewelry. We work with silver, iron & steel, gold & copper alike, from the small scale to the large. Our designs, work methods and inspiration come from the natural world, the history of metalwork and are with a touch of folklore & myth, with a lot of Viking influence.
Our aim as Taitaya is to provide wonderful unique and completely hand made items that are beautifully presented. We wish to offer a you a good service with a full guarantee on the quality of our workmanship.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders
Most of our pendants can be customized. If you do not see the option at checkout, please feel free to contact me.
If you choose a customization at checkout, remember to give me the details at checkout in the “note to seller” section. Once I have received your order, I will create an illustration to check I have the details correct, before proceeding.
Most customizations can be done in 3 business days, though if we are very busy it can take longer. If this is the case I will let you know.
Once the customized piece is ready, you will receive photographs of it before shipping. Our normal return/refund/cancellation policies apply, unless I let you know.
Shipping Upgrades and Customs Duties
We go to the post office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Made to order and customized items will take longer.
Our standard shipping is not tracked outside of the UK. An upgrade can be purchased at checkout for a tracking number. Please not tracked shipping is not usually any faster. All orders over £90 GBP include tracking.
To some locations in the world, there may be import duty or other value added taxes. Imports of precious metals are also restricted to some locations. If I am aware that you live in such location, I shall try to let you know.
Our Guarantees
I want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. It can be hard to judge size and colour over a screen so we will take returns. No questions asked, though it would be extremely helpful for us to know if something went wrong.
I am confident in the quality of my work, so if it breaks in normal use, I will fix it. Provided I have a place and health to do so. I cannot extend the same guarantee to any components I have not made, such as the cords.
Non of the finishes we can provide on iron are permanent, so this is why I offer a refurbishment service for the cost of tracked shipping.
Please contact me for details first, before sending anything back… especially if you are outside of the UK.
Gift items
All our jewellery is packaged in a hand made card gift box, wrapped in a paper bag with a receipt and a couple of cards with details of who we are.
On items that are marked as gifts at checkout, I will include a gift receipt in the bag. There are no prices shown on the receipt, but please be aware that if you are outside of the UK, I will have to put the prices on top of the envelope for the customs people.
Iron, Rust and Care
All iron will rust when it is exposed to moisture. Your body will keep the iron dry when it is worn, but wearing it will also start to rub off the protective layers. With a little care you can delay this and your jewellery can last for years.
We use two different methods to protect our work from the elements: a black oxide with wax and a varnish on our coloured iron.
Detailed instructions for care are included in the boxes.
Our Materials: Iron, Silver and Gold
We source our pure iron from a UK supplier (www.pureiron.com ). The iron we use is 99.8% pure, which is about as pure as you can get it. You will be able to find a technical analysis on the 0.02% impurities on our suppliers website. There is no nickel content, so an allergic reaction is unlikely.
Pure iron is very soft in itself, so it in not at all commonly used. We have found it to be perfect to produce the fine detail for out work and I would warmly recommend it to any one making jewellery out of iron.
Our silver and gold is sourced from Cooksongold. We are registered at the London Assay Office, where we have all our silver and gold jewellery assayed and hallmarked.
Care of the Leather Cord
We take care to choose the best leather cords we can find. Even so the strength and longevity will vary from batch to batch and from cow to cow.
If your cord breaks within a year, please contact me.
I can send you a replacement cord.
Dry leather will go brittle and break easily. Salt, soap, body sprays and cosmetics will dry the leather faster.
Occasionally use leather food or polish to protect the leather. For best results use products designed for leather care.
The best oil to re-hydrate the leather is neat's foot oil, though in a pinch you can use lanolin or tallow. Avoid vegetable or mineral based oils.
Covid 19 update (18.3.2021)
Covid cases are currently low in our area and our household has received the first vaccine. We are still being careful , so we are limiting our visits to the post office to 2 days a week (Tuesday & Friday).
Your normal return window of 14 days is currently extended to 30 days.
Shipping times are likely to be longer with disruption to postal services both here and likely at your end too.
If a member of our household has to self isolate, we will close this shop and ship orders as soon as we are allowed out again. I will message all of the customers that are affected.
Please stay safe.
