Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalised orders

Most of our pendants can be customized. If you do not see the option at checkout, please feel free to contact me.

If you choose a customization at checkout, remember to give me the details at checkout in the “note to seller” section. Once I have received your order, I will create an illustration to check I have the details correct, before proceeding.

Most customizations can be done in 3 business days, though if we are very busy it can take longer. If this is the case I will let you know.

Once the customized piece is ready, you will receive photographs of it before shipping. Our normal return/refund/cancellation policies apply, unless I let you know.

Shipping and Customs Duties

I aim to ship all ready made orders the following day.

Made to order and customized items will take longer and I will message you the shipping schedule on an individual basis.

UK customers, parcels are sent using Royal Mails tracked 24 delivery.

International orders are usually sent tracked priority airmail with Royal Mail and delivered by your countries post. Some countries are courier delivery only.

EU customers. If your order is under €150 Etsy remits the VAT on your behalf. Orders over this sum will incur import VAT, duty and handling fees. These depend on your country.

To some locations in the world, there may be import duty or other value added taxes. Imports of precious metals are also restricted to some locations.

Our Guarantees

I want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. It can be hard to judge size and colour over a screen so we will take returns. No questions asked, though it would be extremely helpful for us to know if something went wrong.

I am confident in the quality of my work, so if it breaks in normal use, I will fix it. Provided I have a place and health to do so. I cannot extend the same guarantee to any components I have not made, such as the cords.

Non of the finishes we can provide on iron are permanent, so this is why I offer a refurbishment service for the cost of tracked shipping.

Please contact me for details first, before sending anything back… especially if you are outside of the UK.

Gift items

All our jewellery is packaged in a black card gift box ready for gifting. The box is wrapped in a paper bag in the shipping box, with a receipt, business card and a leaftlet with details of who we are and how to look after your new purchase.

On items that are marked as gifts at checkout, I will include a gift receipt in the bag. There are no prices shown on the receipt, but please be aware that if you are outside of the UK, I may have to put the prices on top of the envelope for the customs.

Iron, Rust and Care

All iron will rust when it is exposed to moisture. Your body will keep the iron dry when it is worn, but wearing it will also start to rub off the protective layers. With a little care you can delay this and your jewellery can last for years.

We use two different methods to protect our work from the elements: a black oxide with wax and a varnish on our coloured iron.

Detailed instructions for care are included in the boxes.

Our Materials: Iron, Silver and Gold

We source our pure iron from a UK supplier (www.pureiron.com ). The iron we use is 99.8% pure, which is about as pure as you can get it. You will be able to find a technical analysis on the 0.02% impurities on our suppliers website. There is no nickel content, so an allergic reaction is unlikely.

Pure iron is very soft in itself, so it in not at all commonly used. We have found it to be perfect to produce the fine detail for out work and I would warmly recommend it to any one making jewellery out of iron.

Our silver and gold is sourced from Cooksongold. We are registered at the London Assay Office, where we have all our silver and gold jewellery assayed and hallmarked as require by UK law.

Care of the Leather Cord

We take care to choose the best leather cords we can find. Even so the strength and longevity will vary from batch to batch and from cow to cow.

If your cord breaks within a year, please contact me.
I can send you a replacement cord.

Dry leather will go brittle and break easily. Salt, soap, body sprays and cosmetics will dry the leather faster.

Occasionally use leather food or polish to protect the leather. For best results use products designed for leather care.

The best oil to re-hydrate the leather is neat's foot oil, though in a pinch you can use lanolin or tallow. Avoid vegetable or mineral based oils.
