I have two projects that have lived with me most of my life: a cross stitch Chinese screen and a cathedral window quilt. Both must now be almost 20 years in the making, more or less. Probably more.

The Chinese screen I started when I knew nothing of cross stitch and managed to buy the finest cross-stitch fabric for my project, without realising it. I drew my design of bamboo across the 3 long panels. Add in some butterflies and started to embroider. I very quickly realised, as it took a day to do a leaf, that this was going to be a long, long, long time project.

The cathedral window quilt began after I worked in New Orleans' French Quarter, in a quilting shop. The shop offered beautiful hand made quilts from a collection of quilting bees in the southern states. My favourite was the cathedral window quilt and I determined, if I was going to make a quilt, this was the one for me.

Maybe I should say my projects chose me, rather than the other way around. But which ever way, I adore working on them (mostly in winter). In amongst these two long winded works I have knitted sweaters, sewn clothing, decoupaged, stencilled, and lately created a variety and assortment of handmade cards and journals.

There are simply so many wonderful things one can create. It's just about Taking Time Too...
