Thanks so much for the wonderful canvas bag! I love the big pockets.

An absolutely wonderful bag. I use it for hiking and my work as a farmer. The inside is white, so it gets dirty pretty quick, but that is my only complaint (and of course, it will wash out). The canvas is high quality and seemingly impenetrable. The pockets are all useful and well placed, and the metal clip is very well designed. Well worth every penny I paid.
A hand crafted goods and accessories company based in rural northern Mississippi
Johnson Benjamin is a handcrafted goods and accessories company based in a studio in rural northern Mississippi. Our inspiration developed from witnessing the decline of American industry and from being motivated by a new generation of artisans and craftsmen.
We focuses on small batch production of backpacks and over-the-shoulder bags. . Each bag is constructed by hand from cotton canvas duck, brass hardware, and heavy cotton webbing. Construction of each item involves the use of industrial machinery and durable, bonded thread.
Several design elements and construction methods of our items are inspired by old-stock canvas items, such as military surplus and vintage work wear. Our bags feature a heavy ounce, rugged canvas duck exterior with a canvas lining and fully adjustable straps. The bags also feature various interior and exterior pockets and a quick grab handle.
Our bags are intended for daily use and adventure. Each bag develops its own character along the way, making each bag unique to its owner.

Talants first collection of 2013 began with a new palette. Much time was spent developing new designs and construction process. The Talant studio-shop was expanded and much investment went into new machinery. Unique fabrics were sourced and tested to decide what was to be our Spring-Summer debut canvas. It was the goal of 2013 to build and improve upon what was established in Talants first year. Many pages were filled with drawing and sketches but only four designs were finalized for production. Two over the shoulder single strap bags and two backpack style bags were the styles chosen. These four bags are multi purpose and will be able to fill many needs; from day trips or weekend get aways, work commutes, book bags, and more.
Transitioning from 2012 to 2013 Talant wanted to plan on growth. We had the to opportunity to move into a larger studio and production space, making it more efficient to design, cut, and sew. We also acquired a number of new-used specialty, industrial sewing machines allowing us to make better products, more efficiently.
While Talant has every intention of using different colors and weave of canvas we wanted our first production run to feature a single, unifying color and material. Talant has the opportunity to source a rare, dead-stock canvas from a closing American cotton mill. This canvas was woven and then finished in America. Even more unique, is the production of this material. Vintage, narrow shuttle looms were used to produce this canvas with a woven selvage. These vintage looms are known for producing unique greige related details throughout the canvas. Once again, making each and every Talant bag special. Much time and thought has gone into the design, development, and production of the 2013 Spring-Summer collection. From our updated designs, specialty equipment, and our unique fabrics, Talant is moving along. We are proud to make available our Made in Mississippi goods.

What you should know:
The outer material is a 10.10oz, cotton, Army Duck canvas. This canvas has a direct dye and water resistant finish.
The lining is 10oz, cotton, dry canvas with a pure finish.
100% brass hardware
Due the the nature of these materials machine washing or dry cleaning is not recommended. Brushing or spot cleaning with a damp rag is recommended when needed. Soap should be a last resort as this will affect the water resistant finish. Detergents and other harsh chemicals are not recommended For serious stains, items such as a Tide to Go Pen* may be used.
Enhancing the life of your bag:
While you are encouraged to carry your bag, putting it through the tests of life, some steps can be taken to make life easier for your bag.
Brush off the exterior and interior of your bag from time to time, wipe lightly with a damp rag.
Extended storage: use packing paper to give the bag some body, and cover bag. Be weary of extended compression of bag.
Let your bag hang overnight and breathe, especially if your bag was caught in the rain (do not use heat to dry your bag).
Items such as Scotchguard* or Kiwi Camp Dry* MAY be used as a deterrent if the concern of staining is a hinderance.
