We are Talisman Leather. We are a two-person team of artists, and crafters, that believe in hand-making the pieces that we sell. The intention behind our creations is that every piece of wearable art is a lasting part of its wearer’s journey. We want people to feel inspired by the things that they carry with them on a daily basis. A talisman is a physical manifestation of how we want to interact with the world around us. What we at Talisman Leather wish to perpetuate in the modern day is a very conscientious form of consumerism designed around buying products that will stand the test of time. With that in mind we offer a lifetime guarantee on our craftsmanship. Our customers can trust in the durability, and uniqueness of our products. Each piece we make is a combination of our skills, our studies in fine art, craft, culture and spirituality. We incorporate the natural beauty of our supple hides into the products we make and embellish that beauty with various techniques including: hand-stitching, applique, freehand pyrography and beadwork. Our products span a wide and ever expanding range; from simple adornments: cuffs, earrings, patches, to accessories: wallets, journals, belt bags, to utilitarian: backpacks, purses, messenger bags, to clothing: halter tops, vests, skirts, jackets, to elaborate costumes, to kink play pieces: cuffs and collars, unique impact play toys, strap-on harnesses and body harnesses.

The intentional handcrafted nature of our work comes from the local culture of artistry and dedication to fine craftsmanship. We choose to be part of the “slow work” movement in Louisiana because we believe in the heritage and lifestyle of non-disposable products and we use traditional, time honored, construction techniques and incorporate our own creativity in the forms of the work that we make. Our work is inspired by Louisiana. We explore and express the natural environs, as well as regional iconography and cultural traditions through the images that we applique and draw onto our work. We do take care to source leathers that are appropriate and representative of the local environment, as we use large amounts of deerskin, as well as alligator and nutria.
