At this time I am unable to do any special orders.
I am so excited that you are interested in investing in quality hand-made products from Northern Wisconsin. All of my pottery is hand crafted, glazed and fired in Wisconsin. Each piece is unique and beautiful. The pottery is absolutely LEAD-FREE, microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. You can feel as good using it as I do making it.

If you are interested, you can check out my blog,

I have a facebook page,
https://www.facebook.com/tallpinesstudio.tallpinespottery

I will refund any shipping excess over $1. Sorry, but I do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.

All volume measurements are approximate. Some individuals fill cups to the rim, others leave "splash room." Dimensions are taken from the exterior of the piece. Unless otherwise noted, all items are made with a "mid-fire white" stoneware clay body which fires to cone 6. After hand painting with colored slips and bisque firing to cone 04 each item is coated in a clear glaze and final fired. The background is slightly off white, some say light cream. It makes a nice contrast to the painted designs.
Tall Pines Pottery and Tall Pines Studio is a "green" studio. All pieces are produced in a full capacity electric kiln. All clay scrap is recycled in the studio to produce new pieces. Much of the packing material is recycled/reused.

About

Pottery and baskets at a working studio in Saint Germain WI.

In 1996 we combined our lives and moved from Iron Mountain Mi to Saint Germain WI. At that time there were no studios or shops that featured hand made art work in a setting of the artists being there every day. Most stores in this area sell imported goods only. Barry and I wanted to educate and enable guests to the Northwoods to learn how functional pottery or baskets are made and bring home pottery and baskets made as they watched!

Now, 16+ years later we are still blessed with being able to do this. Although we are only open mid-May thru mid-Sept, we believe handmade goods have a place in the retail world. It is wonderful to be throwing on the wheel and have children watching and asking questions. It is good to be able to show people of any age how items used everyday are made.

In the fall of 2009 I launched my online Etsy shop, TallPinesPottery. This gave me an opportunity to reach a wider market of customers year round. Each pottery item is still made one at a time in my Saint Germain studio by me. Being a on the Etsy Mud Team has also allowed me to interact with a fantastic group of potters world wide. Having like minded friends always enlarges your world.

    Artist And Designer, Owner

Since 1982 I have been creating artwork. First it was stained glass, then slowly I migrated over to pottery. All my life I have loved the creative process. Pottery is an ages old craft which even now sends the message of how folks live and work.

Barry creates wild baskets from grapevine and birch strips which he "hunts" down in the forests. The birch bark and wood is harvested from areas that have been previously logged.

Caring for your stoneware:
--Never take a ceramic pot directly from the freezer or refrigerator to the oven. Pieces should be filled so food contacts all interior surfaces and heated slowly. Place room temperature dishes in a cold oven and gradually bring the heat up to the desired temperature.
--Never place a dish directly on top of a burner or in a preheated oven. Stoneware cannot withstand the thermal shock of such treatment.
--A stoneware mug, tea bowl or teapot will absorb heat. Take care when handling these items once hot liquid has been placed in them.
--Teapots should be warmed with hot water before filling them with boiling water.
-- While stoneware can be used in a microwave oven, please keep in mind that it will get hot: Use an oven mitt to handle or take a piece out of a microwave oven.
--Stoneware pieces are dishwasher safe. However, handle them with care when washing to avoid chipping.
--As with other dishes, once a piece is chipped it is likely that a crack has developed as well. It is advisable to no longer use the piece to store food. Moreover, the piece will become weak at the crack and further heating and cooling may worsen the problem.
--Never attempt to use a mug, pitcher or other stoneware piece with a broken handle. Glue is unlikely to hold once the piece is filled or heated. You may glue it back together to use as a decorative piece only.
