Tools of the trade...

Prints, cards, original art, iPhone covers, Moleskines, & personalized stationery, made from my whimsical and nature-based pen-and-ink illustrations!

When I was little I drew all the time, copying my favorite Disney characters and drawing horses on every little scrap of paper I had. But the older I got, the less I was encouraged to do art, so I went to college for biology and then worked in office jobs. Eventually I decided to return to school -- this time for art -- and a couple of years later, I had a shiny new degree in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

I opened my Etsy shop of prints and cards, and later moved to Brooklyn and spent three years doing art in my spare time, and then -- miracle of miracles! -- was able to quit my full-time job in April 2013 to be a freelance artist/illustrator! And it is just as wonderful as I always dreamed it would be.

My favorite illustrators are Edward Gorey, Yuko Shimizu, Ralph Steadman and Aubrey Beardsley. In my art, I enjoy working in ink, or ink combined with another medium. I love having ink-stained fingers! I've always loved to read, so my pieces frequently depict narratives, and sometimes even incorporate text with the images. Even my ten-year-old biology degree sometimes sneaks in there to inform my work, too. ;)

As of October -- I now have a booth at an artist shop at the South Street Seaport here in NYC. Come shop my artwork 7 days a week!
