About

A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Tamara! THOY stands for my first initial "T" and my maiden name Hoy. It's a nickname my old manager gave me during my high school job. Tee Hoy was what he used to call me so while I was trying to think of a shop name, it was all I could think of.

I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest about 15 miles south of Seattle in Renton. My husband and I love old homes full of history which is why we own a 1936 bungalow in a historic neighborhood. It needs a lot of work but our view is to die for. Ultimately we want to turn it into more of a craftsman style home. I am a mommy to girls (5 months and 4 years). I strive to balance family, home, my day time career, and owning this little business. I dream of growing it into something that I can support my family with and others through employment. Currently I am a one women show but who knows…that can all change.

I have done many crafts such as knitting and crocheting but sewing is by far my favorite. I love working with my hands. Everything I do has largely been self-taught. I learn from books, patterns, trial & error (the seam ripper can be my best friend). I wish I had all the time in the world to make all the things.

My inspiration are my daughters. I began quilting with my first daughter because I wanted to gift her a quilt for her first birthday and I began sewing baby clothes for my second daughter. I love the long process that quilt making can entail and the instance gratification when making tiny garments.

I am drawn to geometric shapes and patterns as you can tell with many of my fabric choices and quilt designs..

Please follow me on Instagram @shopTHOY to get glimpses of my family life and behind the scenes making.

Thanks for visiting my shop!
