Writer, Artist, Bee Wrangler.

Hello world!

I grew up and still live in the creative world of Portland, Oregon. Although I spent years working as a scientist (not of the mad variety), I could never quite tame my desire to express myself through words and images. When circumstances provided me the chance to pursue an artistic career, I seized it and have never looked back.

As far as writing goes, I initially dabbled in non-fiction to practice my craft and to share my love of eco-friendly gardening, but my writing aim soon morphed into fiction including my fantasy series The Osteria Chronicles that has earned oodles of praise from its readers.

But my creative endeavors don't stop at writing. I've always loved creating art - in fact, I won my first art prize (a pack of TicTacs) in first grade! After playing around with several mediums I found my perfect match with colored pencils. In 2016, I had to honor of being selected for a solo exhibition as part of the Artist Exhibit Program via the Clackamas County Arts Alliance.

Oh, and that bee wrangling thing? I keep a top-bar hive in my garden. It's a joy to watch the girls zipping in and out of their home as they work to pollinate plants and collect nectar...nectar that eventually becomes honey. YUM!!!

While my shop doesn't offer any bee products, I do keep my virtual shelves stocked with books and prints and originals of my artwork. Each month's selection revolves around a theme and features a handful of Showcase Items.

Of course, if you want to see all my work or see what I'm up to, I'd suggest heading over to my website (http://TammiePainter.com).

Who are you?
As you may have guessed from the name of this shop, I’m Tammie Painter. I work full time as a writer and artist in the Portland area. You can check out my bio, resume, and artist statement as well as follow my blog at my website TammiePainter.com.

What’s this shop about?
This shop is a small bookstore and gallery that will feature a small selection of my books and art.

Why should I buy from this shop?
Through Tammie Painter’s Bookstore & Gallery you’ll get great prices on my books and art, as well as my usual super awesome customer service from years of selling online.

Do you have more items besides what’s listed?
Oh yes! I’m the author of seven (or is it eight?) books which are available in e-book and paperback form through various online retailers. I also tend to churn out at least a couple new pieces of art each month. Each month I'll select my favorite pieces and make them available here. If you’re curious to see more of my work, please surf on over to TammiePainter.com.

What if I want something not featured?
If you’ve been to my website and want one of my books or pieces of artwork only to discover it’s not one of the items on this shop’s virtual shelves, simply contact me and we can chat about what you’re interested in.

Do you do custom orders?
Yep! If there’s a photo you’d like to see turned into a piece of art or you just have a random idea in your head, I can (probably) create something just for you. For full details on my custom orders, please contact me or visit my website.

Do you have coupons?
On occasion I offer some terrific deals. Some of these are offered via my blog or social media accounts, but to get the best deals - including exclusive coupons - you should sign up for my mailing list at TammiePainter.com.

If I wanted to learn more about you, what’s the best way?
The mailing list mentioned above is a great way to keep in touch, but another great way to learn more about me is to follow my blog at TammiePainter.com

Are your paperbacks of good quality?
YES!! I have been super happy with my publisher and the quality of books they produce. The interior pages are nice heavy paper and are not flimsy in any way, the covers are strong (not Superman-resistant strong, but pretty darn good), and the binding is excellent.

Do you have e-books?
Yes. All my books except the My Garden Journal are in ebook format through various online retailers. I have stopped offering PDF Instant Downloads due to problems with pirating.

Can I read samples of your books before I buy?
Definitely! If you head to TammiePainter.com, you’ll find a sample excerpt from most of my books.

What if I want to order, say, more than five of your books? Is there a discount?
There sure is! Just contact me with the quantity you were thinking of and I can give you a quote that includes shipping. The more you order, the more you can save - sometimes up to 40% off retail prices. I can place bulk orders through my publisher and have them sent directly to wherever you need (okay, maybe not Mars, but most other places).

What do I get when I order a print?
A wonderful piece of ready-to-frame art! Besides that, for 5”x7” and 4”x6” prints you’ll get the print on a piece of sturdy 65# paper. This print will then be sandwiched between a black mat and a piece of sturdy backing board. This is then placed into a clear plastic (acetate) bag that seals shut. Basically, once you take the print out of the bag, it’s ready to be popped into a frame. Mats for 5”x7” prints fit an 8”x10” frame; mats for 4”x6” prints fit a 5”x7” frame. Prints are shipped in a USPS Flat Rate Envelope.

What about originals?
Originals, unless indicated or requested, are sold without a mat or a frame. The size of the original piece and the material is was created on are included in the piece's listing. For shipping, the art will be protected with cardboard and shipped via USPS.

I'd really like a greeting card featuring your art. Do you have any?
Putting together individual greeting cards proved too time consuming to be worthwhile, so I have removed them from my shop. However, if you want to bulk order greeting cards (minimum order of 10 cards of the same design) we can work together to create a custom order just for you.

Are your prints and mats of archival quality?
The paper used for the prints is not guaranteed to be of archival quality, although it is of very high-quality and should last for years if kept in normal conditions for artwork (out of direct sunlight and moist conditions). I have personally tested several prints for fading and, even after dozens of hours in direct sunlight, have seen no change in color. I’ve also tested the prints for bleeding when they get wet and have found that the color stays put. That said, to ensure its longevity you should not place any artwork in direct sunlight or in moist conditions. The mats, cards, and bags I use are all acid-free and should not cause damage to the prints if handled with common sense.

Can I photocopy your prints and sell them or give them away to my friends and family?
You could, but you would then be a jerkface thief. Here’s the official statement: All of my works are subject to copyright. The artist (myself) retains all rights including reproduction for all prints and original works sold. Reproduction rights do not transfer with sale, any sale is for the artwork only.

Will my print/greeting card/original art look EXACTLY as it does on my screen?
I don’t know. I do my best to represent, photograph, and describe my art as accurately as possible so there should be no surprises when you get your package. Keep in mind that some devices do not display colors as they look in real life, and this is out of my control. All images can be viewed differently based on individual monitor settings so please allow for variations. If you're not completely satisfied, please let me know! I am one hundred percent committed to making my customers happy!

How do you ship?
As quickly and securely as possible! Prints are made to order and therefore require 2 to 3 business days to assemble. once ready, they are shipped ASAP. Books generally ship within 1 to 2 business days.

Within the US, I ship art via USPS Priority Mail using a Priority Mail envelope and board to protect the work. Smaller books are shipped via First Class Mail. Larger books are shipped via Media Mail. (Packaging may vary depending on the size of your order.) Tracking is included with all purchases. As soon as I ship and can get to the computer, I’ll let you know your tracking number (if available) and an estimated delivery date.

Do you ship internationally?
Most artwork does ship internationally via First Class International Mail and will be packed with the same care as with shipments within the US, although the packaging may be slightly different. I have found it is cost prohibitive to ship books to international destinations, but you should be able to find all my books through various online retailers within your home country (direct links can be found at TammiePainter.com/where-to-buy-books/). If you have any questions about international shipping or want me to ship an item to a destination not listed, simply contact me and we can sort out what you need.

What about customs forms for international shipping?
All international orders that require them will have customs forms and these will be filled out truthfully. Any duty imposed by the country of destination is out of this shop’s control and the responsibility for paying for any duties is entirely on the buyer.

Do you do returns?
It depends. I want you to be confident in your purchase but due to the nature of my items (as in they are easy to copy), I am hesitant to take returns in most cases. I do my best to represent and describe the item as accurately as possible so there should be no surprises when you get your package (unless those pesky postal workers sneak in a tarantula or something). Keep in mind that some devices do not display colors as they would look in real life, and this is out of my control.

So, no returns?
Overall I want you to be at least 99.9% happy with your purchase. Of course, if you feel I have grossly misrepresented my products, I don’t want you to be stuck with something you hate. If you are dissatisfied, please contact me within 7 days of receiving your shipment and I will do my best to make sure the transaction/issue is resolved in a way that is satisfactory to you. Do note, any shipping for returns is your responsibility and is non-refundable. All my products are new and must be returned in the same condition as when they were sent to receive a full refund.

What about books?
In most cases I’m unlikely to accept returns on books, but, again, I want you to be happy, so if there is a problem with a book you’ve ordered, do contact me so I can make it right.

What if something is damaged in shipping?
Let me know right away and I will give the USPS a stern talking to! My shipments are insured for a minimum of $50, which should cover the cost of most of my items. Trust me, I don’t send items that are damaged, mangled, sodden, or otherwise icky, and do my best to pack things so they won’t get ruined during shipping. So, please contact me straight away if you receive something that isn’t in super fabulous condition.

You seem a bit stern about this, are you?
A little. Of course I want you to be happy and to have confidence in shopping with me, but after selling for years online I also know rules need to be spelled out. Believe me, if you contact me about an issue, I will be glad to work with you.
