Sweet Summer is upon us! We are happy to be busy at work on orders and also designing new work. Summer is a busy time for us as our insect lovers are feeling the call to adorn themselves with the magical creatures filling the warm air. We hope you are transitioning to the freedom of the season in ways that you can. We are happy to be fully vaccinated, mask free and venturing out to hear music, go to the movies, stroll the streets, wander the woods, and gather with friends.
We appreciate your support and your decision to shop with small, handmade makers as you enable us to do what we do. With heartfelt gratitude we thank you, dear customers.

We carefully work on the orders as they are received and honor that placement in the workflow time-line. Kindly reach out via Messages, to Teresa at https://www.etsy.com/shop/TandBrie if you have questions or specific time sensitive needs, prior to ordering. Thank you for your understanding of the inherent creative process involved in handcrafted artisan wares. The quantities listed as available on each listing refer to the components, ie: gems, chain, wire, etc that we have in house to craft that many pieces.

We do have a section of works *Ready to Ship,* https://www.etsy.com/shop/TandBrie, please check there as those adornments are crafted and can ship from our Studio in NY in 1-3 business days. T and Brie Jewelry Design is a family collaboration, of artists joined in a passion to design and handcraft wearable treasures. We are inspired by the beautiful intricacies in the details we observe in our path, be it in city, yard or forest. There is magic everywhere, we strive to encapsulate it in precious metals and gems, crafting adornments which enable one to connect with the mysteries of nature or those embedded in a complex metropolis. We are intrigued that certain animals, plants, celestial bodies, and certain forms hold significance in what they symbolism, throughout history, and we honor that relationship which is both personal and communal by crafting representations to be worn. Perhaps these symbols also speak to you, with your birthstone, a T and Brie piece can become ever more poignant to your story.

Kindly plan ahead if you are shopping for a specific date, it is never too early to get your order into our production schedule. We do have items ready to ship, please check that section here and feel free to reach out with your request, via messages.

Most of our Jewelry is bespoke and can be customized with your gemstone choice, making for unique mementos and gifts. Jewelry making is very satisfying way to express our creativity. It involves women, history, adornment, and metal - all things we are passionate about! Brie began tinkering with my findings when she was just a bitty thing and always surprised us with the beauty and thoughtfulness of her creations.

Thanks for stopping by! Don't hesitate to contact T and Brie, available to answer Etsy Messages Monday - Friday from 9AM - 6PM EST. Messages sent over the weekend will be answered the following business day.

>>>> Mother & Daughter Open Jewelry Shop <<<<

The time is right, the ideas flowing, the space created and a vision comes to life. After a hiatus, I pick up my tools, now side by side with a young child, in my endeavor to handmake unique adornments. A circle is complete and the feeling is good.

I am a born and bred NYC woman, who chose Parsons School of Design/The New School for my college experience. I grew up in a bucolic setting on Staten Island and I could not wait to be in Manhattan for my College years. In the Village specifically; onto the deeply interesting streets where my parents, a native New Yorker mom and a Costa Rican father, had taken me since I was a young child.

Focusing on Metalsmithing enabled me to create my myriad ideas of adornment collected in my sketchbooks, into three dimensions. From street wear inspirations to the loads of adornment History at the Met, I had ideas! I was fortunate to live on Union Square just as it was blooming once again into a happy place, the Farmer's Market in its infancy.

At this time, I also apprenticed in my craft in the midst of vibrant NYC of the eighties; this opportunity gave me so much invaluable work experience and confidence. I began selling my small line, to eclectic shops in Manhattan and Hoboken and in the early nineties I was enjoying the reality of being a craft person dedicated to creating.

I moved across the East River after graduation. My bedroom in Brooklyn became my studio, and the sound of cars rolling over cobblestone streets blended with muted Polish outside my window, and filled my workdays with a new soundtrack. So close to the once dominant waterfront of Gotham, lined with a vast array of abandoned factories. Desolate streets sprinkled with metal treasures called out to me. My love affair with decay and all things urban was continuing and North Brooklyn had much to offer.

I took my endeavors to a new level in the mid nineties, deciding to sell wholesale to shops across the country, via the NY Gift Shows, with a troop of other makers and a fearless representative who enjoys connecting fresh art and craft to unique commerce. To reach such a broad and receptive audience with my work was fantastic! To grow with a team was also just the right fit.

During this time, I moved from the city to an old factory town nestled in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, along a winding river in New England. Nature was now full blown in front of me. My walks through the fields revealed many new treasures beckoning to be studied. I crafted my first Bee, from coiled sterling and sheets of silver. I had found a new path to explore. And I worked diligently, steady on for a another decade or more.

I completely adored being pregnant and the entire experience of having our daughter. It was such a interesting, creative process. My newest muse had a voice and deep blue eyes looking back at me! A smile bloomed on that new face and I was hooked. My jewelry studio became a bedroom and mothering blossomed.

Brie has had a strong sense of design since she was quite young, knowing and expressing what clothes she liked and did not like in her closet with an eerie determination. We have always been impressed by her decisiveness. Exposed to beads and tools and findings, she found joy in expressing her creativity.

Now, happily back in NY, in a wooded setting, but with the city within reach, working together, we find a new way to connect and to reconnect with a larger community. We inspire each other and let the materials inspire our designs. When she is not by my side in the studio, her input is always there for me, and I am grateful. Together we explore, create and we grow. There are so many ideas and so little time! Thanks for stepping into our world. We take great pride in being hand-makers of jewelry. We hope you enjoy our designs.

Welcome to our emporium! We are a mother/daughter collaboration inspired by the human need to adorn and communicate through jewelry. Our pieces are designed and lovingly fabricated in our studio in the verdant lower Hudson Valley Region of New York. We strive to create wearable art out of a blend of our ideas and intriguing shapes we find and study. Our inspirations often come from overlooked, fleeting or ephemeral forms that trigger our imagination and suggest the greater mysteries of life. Our pieces have an understated elegance; we impart each with a time worn patina, creating treasures contemporary, yet evocative of another time and place. We aim to make works that can be personalized and meaningful to each individual. Creating is a personal journey for us, sharing the fruits of our endeavors here, gives us great pleasure. Check back again as we grow our collection. Most of our work is made to order, please allow time for the creative process.

Teresa has worked in the jewelry trade for over 25 years. Most of the metal used at T and Brie is recycled from years of benchwork. T and Brie Design deal directly with gemstone cutters in the United States as well as overseas, many for years, who have been in their trade for generations and T and Brie Jewelry Design works to find and support family run businesses.

In the efforts to spread the word about the dire situation of the Honeybee, T and Brie donate a portion of the sale of each Honeybee piece to help the creation of the NY Bee Sanctuary, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to protect the bees of New York State through Conservation, Advocacy, Research, and Education. Learn more about them here: http://www.newyorkbeesanctuary.org/

T and Brie try to reuse exterior packaging in an aim to be a conscientious, eco friendly business!

Regarding Care of Pieces: The patina T & Brie uses to enhance the texture and details of our designs is a natural substance and it can be altered by swimming pools, hot tubs and liquid jewelry cleaners. Please DO NOT use liquid jewelry cleaner on the precious metals and gemstones. Gently brushing the silver with a small piece (nickel size) of fine Steel Wool, 0 Grade, is recommended, which will impart a matte finish on the metal as is done in the Studio. Be sure not to brush gems, and to be gentle around wings giving support from behind while brushing, as well as carefully supporting Ear Wires or Posts, which are vulnerable to bending. Keeping Sterling pieces wrapped in tissue Paper will preserve the lustre, if not wearing, as air will create tarnishing, over time. Wearing and rubbing on clothing will promote a polished effect. A polishing cloth can be used on Ear wires & Posts for gentle cleaning. Please contact us if you would like specific instructions, we are happy to assist!

Care instructions

Generally a good idea to remove jewelry when using water, such as a shower, swimming, as the different minerals and chemicals in watery places may affect the natural patina we apply to the metals.

Use good sense when working with your hands, such as gardening or baking and remove rings to avoid potential damage to softer gems such as Opal and Moonstone.

A small buffing cloth is shipped with each piece, to gently bring up highlights on the metals. Take care to support any wings or delicate parts, ie: clasps, Earwires or Posts, from behind when buffing to avoid bending those parts.
