Me encanta el estado en el que vivo. Nací y crecí en el área metropolitana de Detroit, fui a la escuela y tengo raíces familiares en la UP, y vivo y crié a mis hijos en un pequeño pueblo a orillas del lago Michigan. De todos los lugares que he explorado y viajado, siempre estoy orgulloso de ser del Medio Oeste y feliz de volver a casa en Michigan. Me encantan las cuatro temporadas que tenemos. Me encanta cómo estamos rodeados de agua y que los lagos, ríos y arroyos siempre están a minutos de distancia, sin importar dónde estemos. ¿Y a quién no le encanta sacar tu manopla y mostrar dónde vives o dónde has estado?

Una primavera, mi hermana y yo llenamos una camioneta hasta el borde mientras viajábamos por una venta de patio de 100 millas a través del Medio Oeste. En el camino, encontré una bicicleta tándem clásica de Montgomery Ward en el granero de un granjero. Sus hijos habían crecido y sus nietos no lo montaban. Tenía que tenerlo y de alguna manera logré agregarlo a la pila en el camión. Limpiamos esa bicicleta tándem naranja y se convirtió en el principal medio de transporte para mi hija pequeña y para mí en toda nuestra pequeña ciudad costera.

Cuando diseñé mi primera lista de deseos, mis hijos y mi esposo ayudaron a elaborar una lista de actividades, recuerdos y cosas que son solo nuestra familia. A medida que mi pequeño negocio crecía y necesitaba crear un nombre y un logotipo, mi hijo me dijo que lo único que podía llamar es Tandem For Two, completo con una bicicleta tándem naranja. Tenía razón. Esa bicicleta tándem, que viajó desde una granja del Medio Oeste hasta un pequeño pueblo de playa, resume todo lo que amamos de donde vivimos. Su canasta de bicicletas ha llevado verduras de nuestro mercado de agricultores, toallas para la playa, cenas de picnic al parque, e incluso nuestro perro salchicha recibe un paseo.

Ahora la obra de arte de Tandem For Two incluye todas las cosas divertidas que amamos de nuestras ciudades natales y nuestro estado. Incluyen nuestras cosas favoritas para hacer, comidas locales que amamos y lugares que no debe perderse. Es lo que hace que el lugar donde vivimos sea especial y celebra todas esas cosas, ya sea que hayamos vivido aquí toda nuestra vida o simplemente visitado por un corto tiempo.

I love the state I live in. I was born and raised in metro-Detroit, went to school and have family roots in the UP, and live and raise my children in a small town on the shores of Lake Michigan. Of all the places I have explored and traveled, I am always proud to be from the Midwest and happy to come home to Michigan. I love all four seasons that we have. I love how we are surrounded by water and that lakes, rivers, and streams are always minutes away, no matter where we are. And who doesn't love pulling out your mitten and showing where you live or where you've been?

One spring, my sister and I filled a pickup truck to the brim as we traveled a 100-mile yard sale through the Midwest. Along the way, I found a classic Montgomery Ward tandem bike in a farmer's barn. His kids had grown and his grandkids didn't ride it. I had to have it and somehow managed to add it to the pile on the truck. We cleaned up that orange tandem bike and it became the main mode of transportation for my young daughter and I throughout our small beach town.

When I designed my first bucket list, my kids and husband helped to come up with a list of activities, memories, and things that are just our family. As my small business grew and I needed to come up with a name and logo, my son told me the only thing I could call it is Tandem For Two, complete with an orange tandem bike. He was right. That tandem bike, which travelled from a Midwest farm to a small beach town, sums up all that we love about where we live. It's bike basket has carried veggies from our farmer's market, towels for the beach, picnic dinners to the park, and even our dachshund gets a ride.

Now the artwork from Tandem For Two includes all the fun things we love about our hometowns and our state. They include our favorite things to do, local foods we love, and places not to miss. It's what makes where we live special and celebrates all of those things, whether we've lived here our whole lives or just visited for a short while.
