Hello from Tarheelbilly Farm! We are a farming, crafting, making family. We love to share our passion for agriculture through our handmade products. We raise American Tunis Sheep, a breed in need of conservation and identified as threatened by the Livestock Conservancy. We sell breeding stock to other small farmers and actively promote Tunis wool, roving, and millspun yarn. As conscientious small farmers, our products use materials that we grow, raise, or forage ourselves on our small family farm.
All items are crafted in a smoke-free/dog- free home.
We are happy to announce that we are participating in the "Shave 'Em to Save Em" heritage fiber program with the Livestock Conservancy! If you need stickers for your fiber purchase, please indicate your participation during checkout.
Thanks for supporting small farmers!

5 out of 5 starsMy birds are going to love using the wool I have gotten them to help build their nests this Spring Season. My 17 year old son, who just began into birding, was so excited when I told him I bought this for our bird friends. He has Asperger’s, so he told me this will definitely keep the birds from leaving us and will have my cardinal pair return to our bush! Thank you so much for our wool and my son thanks you as well!

5 out of 5 starsThis yarn is wonderful to work with. Slightly soft with a crisp hand and slight sheen, and knits up beautifully.

5 out of 5 starsStunning yarn! And when I reached out with a question (was I being piggy by ordering six skeins?), I got a sweet message back saying not at all — and offering three more from the same batch. I’m smitten with the yarn and the source.

About TarheelbillyFarm

Our sheep graze year-round on pasture free from pesticides.

Tunis fiber is hard wearing and resists felting. It shines as socks, sweaters, and other utilitarian garments.
Hello from Appalachian Ohio! We are a small farm located in Southern Ohio in the the rolling hills of the Appalachian range. In keeping with our dedication to pesticide free farming, we use no herbicides, pesticides, antibiotics, or chemicals on our farm. We started Tarheelbilly Farm soon after we met in NC. After Ben's retirement from active duty military service, we took over family land in Southern Ohio.
We raise Old Style American Tunis Sheep, a breed on the Livestock Conservancy List. Our sheep are raised the old fashioned way, and they thrive on our rotationally grazed pasture. Charis, the shepherdess, spins, knits, and weaves, and the wool from the sheep is processed into lovely roving and yarn. We currently offer freezer lamb and mutton locally (as available) and will offer roving and fleeces in 2018.
Ben is wild about maple syrup. He roams the woods carefully managing and maintaining the sugar bush. He also spends time in the shop, building all of the wooden ware that we use in our apiary.
We are passionate about agriculture and are proud to continue our farming heritage!
