A Candle Company is Born!
I've been making Soy Candles since about 2004, but only for my personal use and for my family. I've always loved the way a candle can make a room 'cozy' and feel more inviting. A scented candle can even change your mood, and some days I need that :)
During the 2011 holiday season, I was strapped for cash (who isn't?) and wanted to give gifts to my employees. I ended up making them Chocolate Raspberry Roll (the only scent I had on hand) scented soy candles in mason jars, they turned out really cute! I took them to work and put one on each of my employees desks, and hoped that they liked the smell of yummy chocolate and sweet raspberries. It wasn't long after that people were asking me where I bought them. When I proudly announced that I had made them, there were so many 'ooohs' and 'ahhhs' that I was truely in amazement. I knew I liked candles, and I love that scent, but I didn't think there would be quite that much buzz about them!
Soon other people were asking me to make candles for them, and how much would they cost. I couldn't believe it! One of my female employees (who is always in the know about great websites) exclaimed that I NEEDED to be selling my candles on this site called Etsy. I had never heard of Etsy, but she insisted that I check it out and start selling.
When I got home I checked it out, of course, and couldn't believe that there was such a fabulous place for people to sell handmade crafts! Etsy has given me a wonderful outlet to share my creativity and love of candles, I don't know how I hadn't heard of it until then! It's an amazing feeling to know that people out there like my candles, and some of the feedback I have gotten has actually made me cry. I put every ounce of myself into delivering a quality product that I am proud to put my name on, and when I get feedback that reiterates that I've done a good job it's just incredible!
This is how my little candle company was born :)
