It looks great. Love it
Tattooed and Chained Chainmaille is a tiny, home based craft business owned and operated by me, Jennifer LaDouceur- designer, creator, shipment fulfiller, and customer service specialist. My pliers and I work at what was once my dining room table (now only used for making chainmaille) in my smoke-free home.
My chainmaille obsession began in 2010 when I saw one gorgeous bracelet at a mineral and gem show. I had no idea what it was, but searched the internet tirelessly until I came across chainmaille jewelry images. With the help of many websites, books, tutorials, and lots of practice, I taught myself how to maille. I've been knee-deep in jump rings ever since. Tattooed and Chained Chainmaille on Etsy opened in 2011. I also have my own stand-alone website.
My business name came about simply because I'm heavily tattooed and I love to create chains. Tattooing is also the main family business, my husband has been tattooing for over 20 years and owns Star City Tattoos in Roanoke, VA. A selection of my jewelry is available there for purchase.

Hi! I'm a self taught chainmaille artist and one-woman show, I'm quite proud to run every aspect of my business myself. I hope you enjoy wearing my chainmaille as much as I enjoyed making it.
My chainmaille is all hand woven by me using various sets of pliers and hundreds of jump rings. I use only the highest quality saw cut jump rings in my jewelry, and my ring closures are perfect, giving you a gorgeous, smooth piece of jewelry you will enjoy for years!

Additional policies and FAQs
Please note that my bracelets and anklets are sold by SIZE (inner circumference when clasped), NOT by overall length! Chainmaille weaves vary greatly in girth and the thicker the weave the longer the overall length needs to be, sometimes a full inch longer than your required size. Take the time to measure your wrist per the instructions below and you'll get the perfect fit every time!
***STRETCHY RUBBER BRACELETS*** can fit you snugly if you order your actual wrist measurement. If you like a tight fit, order a size below your wrist measurement. Example: My wrist measures 5-3/4", I'd order a 5-1/2" stretchy bracelet for a tight fit.
***BRACELETS***Using a soft measuring tape, measure around your wrist bone. Take that measurement and add 1/2 inch to one inch, depending upon how tight fitting you like your bracelets. If you do not have a soft measuring tape, cut a strip of paper, wrap that around your wrist and make a mark where it overlaps. Then lay it straight against a ruler to find your measurement, and add 1/2 inch to one inch.
My actual wrist measurement is 5-3/4 inches. My bracelet size could be 6-1/4 to 6-3/4 inches, depending on how I'd like it to fit. I'd wear a 5-3/4 inch stretchy bracelet.
***ANKLET***Measuring for an anklet is very similar to measuring for a bracelet, in that you can measure your ankle and add 1 inch. Alternatively, measure with a soft measuring tape or string where you would like your anklet to sit. Some prefer a high fit while other prefer a looser, under-the-ankle-bone fit.
Please keep your jewelry away from household cleaners. Please do not use jewelry cleaners, cremes, or polishing cloths on your aluminum chainmaille.
Please handle your jewelry with care. Chainmaille links are not soldered and therefore can be pulled apart.
ALUMINUM will not tarnish like sterling silver, but it will pick up dirt and oils from your skin causing it to become dull. Should you find that your jewelry is not as shiny as it used to be, soak your piece in warm soapy water (only blue dish soap is recommended) for a few minutes to loosen dirt and oils. Then lather it it with gentle dish soap using your fingers. Rinse with warm water and allow to air dry. You may also dry it with a blow dryer set on the cool setting.
Over time, the outer layer of aluminum will corrode slightly. This outer layer of corrosion actually protects the inner layer of aluminum from further corrosion.
STAINLESS STEEL is very strong and durable. If it becomes dull just wash with soap and water as described for aluminum.
COPPER is a heavyweight metal that is quite lovely, but it quickly develops a patina. If you would like to restore your copper jewelry to its original shine, any commercial copper cleaner will work. Alternatively, a few items from your kitchen will work just as well. Add a bit of salt to some lemon juice and dip your jewelry in to soak for a few minutes. Once clean, rinse with water and dry well. Store in an airtight bag.
BRONZE is a gorgeous, warm colored metal with a nice heavy weight. It is an alloy of copper and tin. Bronze will patina with time, turning darker and giving character to the jewelry. If you prefer your bronze chainmaille to look as bright as the day you receive it, any commercial cleaner for bronze, like Brasso, will restore the shine. To keep the shine as long as possible, store in an airtight bag and keep away from humid conditions.
JEWELRY BRASS is a nice, durable heavyweight metal that bears a strong resemblance to 14K yellow gold when polished. Jewelry brass in an alloy of copper and zinc. Brass will develop a patina with time and wear but can easily be cleaned with a commercial cleaner like Brasso. To keep the shine as long as possible, store in an airtight bag and keep away from humid conditions.
I will list every aspect of the piece so that you can make an informed purchase. Please allow for slight color variations due to photography lighting, computer monitor settings, etc.
I happily accept custom orders! If you see a piece that you like but it's not in the color or colors you need, just contact me!
