About TedzukuriAtelier

Sales 960
On Etsy since 2015

Handmade origami inspired design created with love to brighten your space.

*Our story

Tedzukuri Atelier was born from the need to create. To create beautiful colorful objects at a human scale that will bring color and texture to the spaces they decorate.

We are a couple of designers based in Paris. Ana is an architect and wished to complement her activity with something more immediate and approachable, combining soft materials and new shapes at a human scale. Pedro is a scientist and DIY enthusiast and wanted to let free his creative side to create beautiful light fixtures that will brighten any space. (He loves to play with light since he was a little boy!)

During our trip to Copenhagen in early 2014 we found the real inspiration to our design. The clean, simple and fresh shapes and lines of the Scandinavian design and its very conscious approach to the environmental problems matched perfectly with our own vision and work philosophy.

With the birth of our baby girl we took one year and a half to launch this new project. A time of search, trying to find our signature.

Experimenting with origami techniques and different materials and colors gave birth to the Hanahi lamp, the first creation of Tedzukuri. All lamps are hand folded by us and materials are as sustainable and recyclable as possible.

Stay tuned for the next creations by Tedzukuri Atelier!

*The creative process

The Tedzukuri Atelier creations are developed in a very empiric way. The new shapes appear mostly from the direct manipulation of materials by using the ancient Japanese paper folding method Origami.
We rarely sketch or use the computer. We prefer to explore the material’s possibilities, trying different folds, different sizes, different combinations... It’s a real “trial and error” design method that takes us always farther then we could expect, showing us new opportunities and new ideas.
All our objects are folded by hand. Each and single one of our creations are developed and made with love and care to bring a little bit of color and design to your home.

*An environment-friendly approach

By our design philosophy and material’s choices our products are highly recyclable. And in addition our lampshades promote the use of energy-saving lamps.
Our brand responds to an increasing respect for Nature promoting a whole new approach to the interior design: a range of products with a low impact for the planet but a great aesthetical impact to your home.
