As-Is versus Restored: A price comparison.

Can any other seller claim that they have restored over 500 of these clocks???

I started my hobby of horology back in 2003. However, it was in 2005 that I discovered the incredible quality of Telechron, General Electric, and Herschede Electric Clocks. I was one of the founding editors with Silver Dollar Productions (WWW.SilverDollarproductions.net). Our little 3-page website in 2005 expanded to be one of the most premier authorities on Telechron and Revere clocks. Many, many of the clocks you see on that site were restored, photographed, and cataloged by me. Start counting if you like! Over the years, I've mastered the mechanics of all these clocks, and, accumulated a large hoard of authentic parts.

You can shop the internet and find similar (or exact) clocks for lower prices. So why shouldn't you buy the cheaper ones? Restoring all of these clocks has led me to a TERRIBLE discovery! Here are the sad facts:

90% of all the clocks I've worked on have NEVER seen any professional service in their life!

10% had seen professional service, but that service was ages ago.

35% of the clocks I've worked on have been Gerry-rigged or improperly worked on using make-shift parts out of somebody's garage.

Most sellers don't have a clue about what they are selling. Instead of bringing out the qualities of a clock, you can expect excuses: No glass, cracked cases, frayed wiring, missing knobs, poor finishes, etc, etc. They usually tell you about the work you need to do in order to have a nice clock. The question is, can you do that work properly?

The fact that a clock is advertised as "Running" is not good enough and a not reason to plop down your hard-earned cash!

Despite the fact that these clocks are electrical, they are still mechanical! Mechanical clocks need oil! What happens to these poor clocks over time is that the original oil dries up. It turns into a crusty adhesive which binds the gears up so badly, that many times they are locked up. Just squirting oil into these movements is no help, and can actually hurt the clock even more. The encrusted, old oil must be removed from every pinion and pivot ensuring an absolutely clean surface before new oil can be applied.

Restored prices are higher, but in reality, are not. Keep in mind that it's not just the clock your buying, but things that are put into it that you take for granted or never see. New crystals. New power cords. New gears. New chime rods, etc. And then are shop materials such as steel wool, sandpaper, cleaning solutions, clock oil, wood oil, paints, solder supplies, not to mention rolls and rolls of paper towels!

Consider all of this before making your decision to buy a clock!

Additional policies and FAQs
I guarantee that all the clocks I sell are in good working order when they are shipped; none of this "sold as is" stuff; however, please keep in mind that old electronics are sometimes sensitive to the rigors of transport.

All of my clocks come with a full parts and labor warranty. Please check the description to see what warranty comes with the clock you are considering.

Unless I am working with you, please do not attempt repairs yourself or by somebody else. Indications of tampering will void this warranty, and refunds will not be issued.
