The Truth Be Told...

Having earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in my callow youth I worked as a graphic artist and itinerant creative spirit until a higher calling drew me back to school to earn a masters degree in a human services field. After 20 years of service to others I decided to turn back around to my roots and begin creating on a serious level again, the results you see on my Etsy shop.

I also hold a certificate in spiritual direction which explains the religious/spiritual themed paintings on my page. Contemporary sacred art is a particular interest of mine (there is a sacred art gallery in my shop) and for more information on how art and spiritual experience combines together please visit my other web page: http://www.lightofsophiagallery.com

My shop has a number of galleries, from inexpensive gifties to non-representational paintings to more serious explorations of deep subject matter and of course the gallery of contemporary sacred art. There is something here for everyone.

If you have an idea and don't see it here or have never seen it and would like an artist to create it for you (meaning me!) please contact me. I have samples of previously commissioned pieces on http://www.lightofsophiagallery.com

If you wonder what some of the subjects have to do with the sacred, that dear reader is the mystery of life!

I hope you enjoy what you see!

Every painting in my shop is original and hand painted by this artist. There are no reproductions! Just as no two people are alike, each painting is original and unique.

I work in acrylic paint on either stretched canvas or hardboard. These two materials have been used for the ages because they have excellent archival quality. Occasionally I will use canvas board. All paintings are protected by an archival varnish. When you buy original art you are making an investment in your appreciation of the arts. For that reason I make it a point to use stable, time guaranteed materials which will last a lifetime and beyond.

Some of the paintings are framed and some are unframed. The framing is done as a courtesy to you and there is no extra charge for the frame. In either case, the painting is ready to hang - if unframed, the edges are painted to give it a finished look. I put rubber protectors at the corners to save your walls.

Each painting is signed and copyrighted on the back with its own individualized serial number. The serial number pertains to the date that the piece was finished. I quite often include a photo of the back of the painting so you can see this.

Should you want to see more photos of a painting you are interested in, do not hesitate to contact me. It is no problem.

Each painting is documented in my archives and you will receive a Certificate of Provenance which designates you as the original owner of the painting. Paintings with an established provenance tend to increase in value faster than those that do not.

I pack and ship through the United States Postal Service. Your painting is insured while in transit.

And lastly, I include a small gift of appreciation with each purchase you make.

And one more last thing. (really.) I welcome your interest in having a custom piece done for yourself or a loved one. The process is easier than you think!

Well, really, the last thought..

A FEW WORDS ABOUT FRAMING… it's a good idea to invest in a frame to protect your purchase of original art. Paintings that are sold without frames can certainly be hung as is but a frame protects your painting and secures its' stability over time. A frame that you choose also expresses your style and when matching your home decor, sets the painting off in a dramatic fashion. I suggest that a frame for your painting is very much like finding just the right table setting to create a wonderful mood for a delicious meal.
