Welcome to Tenpenny House! We're so glad you're here. We build chalkboards, cork boards, shiplap wood wall and other wood goods that are beautiful and unique. We'll even customize the size to make sure what you are getting is just exactly what you need.
All of our items are made by hand right here in our shop in Texas.

1. Are your chalkboards magnetic?
No, our chalkboards are not magnetic.
Can you build something for me in a custom size?
Almost always this answer is YES! We craft each item we sell right here in our shop and would love to make something special just for you. Send us a message with your request and we'll do what we can to make it happen.
Can you finish something for me in a custom color?
Yes. For an additional fee + an extended lead time this can almost always be done. Send us a message with your request.
Do you accept rush orders?
Typically no. Our production time is one of the quickest you will find on Etsy for the types of products we sell. We're generally moving as fast as we can. :) With that said, if you are working against a deadline please send us a message and we will absolutely do what we can to help!
Can I use chalk markers on your boards?
We prefer plain old chalk (we love Prang white chalk) but you can use chalk markers. Seasoning the board will help tremendously with getting the markers erased (we include instructions for seasoning and erasing). The longer you leave the marker on, the harder it is to remove. That is just the nature of chalk markers.
It's also very important to read the packaging of the markers you use and make sure they are suitable for a porous surface as some are not.
Do your boards come pre-seasoned?
They do not, but we include detailed instructions for seasoning in your order.
Can I return or exchange a purchase that was a custom order?
Custom Orders are NOT eligible for return or exchange. Thanks for understanding.
