5 out of 5 starsI have had the pleasure of seeing Jerry Ann’s work in person at several different shows over the past few years. I love how she repurposes different textiles into a new piece for your wardrobe. The quality of her work and her attention to detail make her work a pleasure to own and wear. I am especially fond of using her “anemones” on my headbands. They are so much fun and always bring so many compliments! Keep Taming the Tattered and I will keep buying. :)

TerranJerran: Taming the Tattered by Creating Up-cycled Apparel
As long as I can remember, I have worked with my hands to create something new using recycled materials. I recall my mother putting some of my items in a shop on consignment when I was about 11 years old. I've always loved the process of finding unique, beautiful, and interesting items, and then transforming them into something useful and beautiful. As I grew up, I went to school and became a teacher/educator by trade. I worked in that field and gained amazing experience collaborating with a team to create interactive, multimedia, educational materials; but I never lost my desire to create with my hands. So, I started participating in Arts and Crafts Fairs to support my need to collect, design, and create functional art.
Opening my Etsy shop served to combine my loves: multimedia creativity, as well as, working with my hands. I love that there is a movement for independent makers and glad that Etsy provides an outlet for that community.
As for the name, TerranJerran--Taming the Tattered: it includes Terran -- meaning "of the earth", and Jerran -- which stands for Jerry Ann. The, "Taming the Tattered" part was suggested by my daughter after much anquishing on my part to find that perfect name -- I thought it fit nicely. TerranJerran was also the name of a childhood "imaginary" playmate (according to my mother).
I hope I've communicated and I hope my creative work demonstrates, my love of the earth and its inhabitants.

“Giving new life” to used or damaged, luxury, fabrics and other found items by transforming them into new, one-of-a-kind; clothing, accessories, and jewelry: Up-cycling.
Shop policies
Please, read my Profile for additional information!
I work in a smoke free environment using cleaned, recycled clothing or new, damaged clothing. I prefer using high-quality, natural, fabrics like silk; wool (cashmere, merino, alpaca); and velvet in addition to, cotton; bamboo; rayon; and tencel. I recommend washing with care … For best results, the clothing and fabric accessories are spot cleanable or dry cleanable. Gently washing by hand in cold water and line drying will also work (most of the time), but, please, do so at your own risk, it will decrease the life of some items.
SIZING: Since I am remaking existing clothing, it is hard for me to be exact about sizes – Most of the time, I use stretch fabric and consider clothing to be a “free size” --with a tendency in a certain direction—I will suggest that direction.
I will include actual measurements when reasonable.
My intention is to provide high quality items at reduced costs because I receive them used or damaged. I put a significant amount of effort into my creations and request prices that I feel reflect the time and creative energy. I hope you enjoy my work and if you have any problems with any purchases, please, let me know right away.
