Wow! So beautiful. It looked amazing in the photo ... that's why I bought it, but it REALLY looks amazing in reality. This item was "recommended" by ETSY --- it's not an item I found myself. I loved it immediately. So it pays to check out the recommended items. The artist moved the back sleeve so that I can hang the quilt longitudinal instead of vertical. That was so nice! Also, the back of the quilt is cool enough to display. The details and construction of this quilt is impeccable!!!!! I just love this beautiful piece of art. The quilt was wrapped in tissue paper and then wrapped around a foam 'noodle' (the pool toy) to prevent any wrinkles. It arrived in perfect condition.

About

. . . where fiber art meets quilting

Over the years, I’ve dabbled in many creative activities, including drawing, painting, knitting and sewing. When I discovered quilting and the concept of art quilts, I knew I had finally found my creative niche.

My style is contemporary. Some of my quilts are pieced, some are fusible appliqué, and some are a combination of techniques. I love bright, intense, complex colors. My favorite color is chartreuse; you’ll find at least a bit of it in almost every one of my quilts. I often use dark backgrounds, as they make the bright colors “pop”.

The concept for a new quilt might be based on a specific color combination I want to use, or I might be inspired by a photo I’ve taken of leaves or flowers or a landscape. The design always evolves during the creative process, and the final quilt is often quite different from my original concept.

I wanted to share my art quilts with a wider audience, and my Etsy shop allows me to do that, and make some money too! Also, I find that having the Etsy shop motivates me to keep creating and to finish each project I start.

I also enter my quilts in juried shows and submit my quilts to magazines. I have had quilts accepted at the Canadian Quilters’ Association National Juried Show and the International Quilt Festival, and published in Quilting Arts Magazine and Art Quilt Studio Magazine.

I love working with fabric. I'm amazed by the variety of colors and patterns available in commercial quilting cottons and batiks. My passion is the design and construction of fabric-based art.

Generally, I will ship your purchase the day after I receive your payment unless it is a weekend, holiday, or we have made other arrangements.

HANGING YOUR QUILT
All hanging quilts have a sleeve sewn to the back so the quilt can be hung from a dowel or rod. Quilts are not shipped with a hanging rod.

CUSTOM WORK
I love to make custom quilts!

Are you looking for unique and customized art for yourself or as a special gift? If you have a favorite photo of a family gathering, a loved one, a pet, a cityscape, or country scene - I can make you a custom quilted wall hanging based on your photo.

To see some examples of my custom portrait quilts, click here http://www.etsy.com/shop/TerryAskeArtQuilts?section_id=10266267

This is my standard process for custom work:

• You send me your photo attached to a message, and let me know what size and color palette you would like. If you're not sure, I am happy to make recommendations. (There is no charge for this part of the process.)

• We decide on the complexity of the design, the number of fabrics to be used and the finished size of the quilt. Based on those variables, I give you a price for the finished quilt (approximately $1 per square inch.)

• Once we've agreed on the details, I create a custom listing for you.

• For custom work I require full payment in advance, and the purchase is not refundable.

• Once payment is received, I create the quilt based on our agreement. I will send you progress photos during the construction phase.
