Cute Little Boxes? Well...
Okay, inspired by Etsy artisans, I thought I'd have some fun and make some uniquely designed wooden boxes. To get the thin stock I needed, I was resawing a lot of wood. The dust collection on my Delta 14" bandsaw was, well, bad.
In response, I created an improved dust port for my saw and offered the file for free on a popular 3D design sharing site. I made my fellow woodworkers aware of it on a couple of forums and was surprised by the number of requests for a finished piece. I relented and offered them for sale in my shop.
I was then approached by others with requests for dust ports for different models. I started designing them (doing it for machines you don't have access to can be challenging) and my product line grew.
I have a few other parts available as well. The Unifence cursor is a favorite. While I have a Unifence (two, actually), both of my cursors were intact. However, I saw some poorly made ones being offered in various places and decided to design something better. My design has undergone several revisions, all in an attempt to make an aesthetically pleasing, perfectly functional, and reasonably rugged alternative to those other designs.
I manufacture my items in a few different ways, with 3D printing, laser cutting and molding processes among them. The goal is always the same: A product that works well and helps my fellow woodworkers.
Well, except I can't say my book (more to come) will make you a better woodworker. But I do hope you'll be entertained!
Drop me a message if there's something you need and I'll see what I can do. Thanks for reading!
