About

"Awen"

"This beautiful word refers to sheer and pure divine inspiration, the breath that blows to flame the sparks of fire in the head. The Muse and the divine poetic gift, given to bards, druids, priestesses, artists, singers...to all of us. To be with or to experience Awen is to be full of inspiration that has at it's heart a deity, an element, the fae or a magical being. The Priestesses of Avalon would breathe with Awen to bring life to their inspirations and purpose as individuals and as a community...." (from the book "The Lost Lands" by Lucy Cavendish)

Creating, for me, is the best form of healing. Through paint, dance, food, song, or whatever other medium is calling to me at that time, I can find my center. When emotions, fears, or even desires come bubbling up to be explored, I choose to explore and release them through creativity. My hope is that others will find some love, joy, and healing through my creations. Please come along and enjoy this journey with me.

“Something amazing happens when we surrender and just love. We melt into another world, a realm of power already within us. The world changes when we change. the world softens when we soften. The world loves us when we choose to love the world.” –Marianne Williamson

“In the process of letting go you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself. It will be a permanent Self, rooted in awareness and creativity. Once you have captured this, you have captured the world.” –Deepak Chopra

Etsy's shipping calculator is not always accurate on heavier orders. If you are placing an order for more than just a couple of candles please send me a private message, and I will be happy to calculate the exact shipping amount for you.

Please verify that you have the correct mailing address before placing an order. If a customer has entered incorrect information, they are responsible for additional postage to resend it.

The Art of Awen is not responsible for errors made by the United States Post Office. If your item is delayed past the "estimated arrival date" we apologize. However it is outside of our control and we recommend that you file a complaint with the USPS.

**Please be sure to ship to an address where someone will be available to receive your order and bring it inside out of the heat/sun/mailbox. Soy wax has a lower melt point than most waxes, and will soften or melt if left outside in the heat.**

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
International orders may have additional customs fees and/or tariffs depending on your country. You, the buyer, are responsible for paying these costs.
Additional policies and FAQs
Safety First:
Candles should never be left unattended. Burn on a flat, heat resistant surface away from drapes and other flammable materials and as always, keep away from children and pets. Do not touch the hot, molten wax, and please allow your jar and wax to cool before moving it. The Art of Awen is not responsible for user misuse and negligence. Please burn your candles responsibly.

Soy Wax:
Our wax is made of 100% natural soy grown here in the US! This wax melts to a liquid, unlike paraffin wax, and needs to be kept in a container. We recommend an initial burn time of 2-3 hours to help with the wax memory. This prevents tunneling down the middle. Always ensure you burn the candle for a couple of hours each time you use it to allow for a complete melt pool from edge to edge. Limit your burning time to around 4-5 hours max to prevent the entire candle from liquefying since this could overheat the glass.

Wet Spots/wax pulling away from the sides of the jar & Frosting:
With natural soy candles, "wet spots" are a common occurrence.
The term “wet spots” in candle making refers to the spots or patches in container candles that appear to have air, or a wet spot showing through the glass or transparent container and the candle wax. Wet spots are extremely common and are one of the most common complaints among candle makers. However, wet spots will not inhibit the functionality of your candle, just the aesthetic appeal.
It is extra common to have this happen frequently in the fall/winter time, as the mail will sometimes sit in a cold truck, or warehouse for periods of time.

Frosting- You may notice some variations in the color of your soy candles, especially candles that use 100% soy wax with no other additives. This is called “frosting”. It looks like small, whitish crystals that form on the top of the wax or the sides of the jar. I try to minimize this as much as possible, but it is very normal for soy wax to do. 100% soy wax candles also tend to frost over time, but this in no way affects how the candle burns. Sometimes slight changes in temperature will also cause a soy candle to frost.

Scent:
Our scented candles are made with the maximum recommended amount of fragrance/essential oils. If you’re having a hard time smelling it, it may be because the room is too large for this size candle. You can increase/concentrate the scent by moving it to a smaller room or as you might guess, we recommend additional candles. To make sure you’re not getting used to the smell, you can step outside or shut the room’s door for a while to re-expose yourself to the scent.

Wick Care:
Trim and center your wicks before each use. There are two reasons this is important. One, the flames can get out-of-control if the wick is left untrimmed, which leads to flickering, smoke and soot. It can also lead to overheating the jar. Iif you keep the wick length between 1/8″ and 1/4″ your candle will burn for many more hours. If you find yourself struggling to trim your wicks, it is recommended to invest in a wick trimmer.
