Frequently asked questions
How do you care for botanically dyed items?
I always recommend using a gentle detergent, something ph-neutral. Excessive exposure to sunlight and washings are not recommended. I love hand washing and hang drying items!
About botanical dyes -
I love the magical and ancient process of botanical dyes. The colors you can receive from nature using natural fibers are so unique and magical to me! Natural variation is expected. I love that each piece is truly one of a kind. Each piece is dyed in small batches from flowers and plants that I've grown in my garden.
Why does your dye process take 48 - 96 hours?
There are quite a few steps in preparing natural fibers for a dye vat such as; scour, mordant, dye, wash, and dry.
Depending on the botanical material and natural fabric that I'm using and the size of the item, time varies for each step in the dye process. Natural dyeing is all about taking your time and not rushing the process.
What charities do you donate to?
30% of all proceeds collected by this project go back to charities. I support all different causes, locally and globally. Follow my Instagram account to see where I am actively donating the proceeds to. I plan to rotate monthly or quarterly to varies charities. If you have suggestions, please don't hesitate to send me a message!
