About

I love making different crafts to helps fill the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes.

After I became disabled; I found myself sitting all day and most nights when I can not sleep. doing nothing and feeling helpless and useless. I had spent my whole life helping people. I had worked 35 years in my beloved profession of nursing and the last 10 years as an Advanced Practice Nurse with a Master of Science in Nursing Degree (Family Nurse Practitioner)

I started packing the Christmas shoeboxes for needy children through my church.
http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/

I decided to use my hobby to help children all over the world. We filled 178 shoeboxes in 2013 with help from my best friend, family and team mates from Etsy's Trade-A-Holic team.

All profits from this shop goes to buy items for the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes for needed children all over the world. This shop does not have a not for profit status as I donate all profits and more for the shoeboxes.

Each shoe box was filled with a comb, soap, wash cloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, toy, bag of candy, pens, pencils, color markers or color pencils. pencil trimmer, glue sticks, sunglasses, either a sewing kit or fishing kit (school ages) , journal, composition book, jewelry (school age girls), ages 2-4 and 5-9 receive coloring book and crayons along with activity books.. I usually target the 10 -14 years and my BBF target the younger ones so we end up with a good assortment for all ages.

I have been beading for years so I decided to fill the long hours making jewelry. I could take my time and just do as much as I could when I could. It took my mind off the chronic pain and feeling so helpless. I decide to use it to help fill those Christmas shoe boxes for needy children. It satisfied my need to help people so I do not feel so helpless.

I wish I could do more but my shops have never made a profit. I have learned to live with what I can do and NOT on what I can not do. I have a lot of supplies on hand because I had big dreams but just thinking of making something helps me.

My favorite metals are sterling silver and gold fill, but I am beginning to branch out into other metals such as brass and gunmetal. I love the feel of natural stone and admire the brilliance of Swarovski crystals. I used Swarovski Crystalized Elements because of the quality. I have found other brands just do not measure up to the quality of Swarovski's crystals I use other man made materials such as Cats Eye and Cubic Zirconia

I have learned my crafts through books, and online tutorials..

I started making crafts to help support Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes for needy children. Crafting is physical and psychological therapy for me filling longs hours when all I can do is sit and craft with my hands.
