TheBeeOrchard's Shop Announcement

Why TheBeeOrchard, I get asked. So here's the story. I always dreamed of owning my own apple orchard until I was striken with fibromyalgia (I still love apples though). The symbol for my name is the bee. Oddly, I've been obssessed with bees since way before I even knew that fact. I've always been in love with perfume and remember my first "kit" given to me by my mother when I was only 7 years old. I spent hours mixing up my little creations.

Welcome to The Bee Orchard, where I create unique small-batch natural perfumes, skin care, bath and body products. My name is Deborah and my passion to create comes to me by way of genetics. My great, great grandfather was a pharmacist and surgeon, back in the days before modern medicine. My great grandmother, who I was lucky enough to have until I was 24, imparted some of her natural remedies. She lived into her late 90s with only one kidney all her life.

My mother, Ruth Ritchart, who I like to call the "basement chemist," was always formulating or mixing up a batch of incredible soap, lotion or potion with an emphasis on essential oils. She created an absolutely amazing handcrafted skin care, bath and body line and owned and operated the U.S. Apothecary and Soap Shop in Old Town, San Diego, California, prior to retiring.

Thus, the provenance of my interest and passion. My mother retired some years back and some of my offerings are inspired by her most popular and loved products. I would not sell anything that I don't love, or wouldn't use myself.

All of my products are made in a smoke-free environment and in very small batches for freshness using therapeutic-grade essential oils, organic whenever possible, packaged in recycleable amber glass with labels that easily soak off, to protect the integrity of the finest ingredients I can source.
