Beautiful. Vibrant colors. Has greater detail that I imagined, conveys tumultuous energy. I can feel the heat of that ferocious sun!

Gorgeous and complex...makes me long for more time just to sit and examine each facet...would be ideal anywhere people have to sit and wait! I only regret that I didn't buy one of the 2 largest sizes.

This really turned out nice on metallic paper, and came quickly too. Thank you!

About

An Old Take On New Technology

During college while I was studying art education, I was introduced to a computer program called Apophysis. It was an open source fractal flame editor that was free to download and use. At first, I didn't even know what a fractal was, and I had to look it up.

frac·tal

noun
1.
a curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Fractals are useful in modeling structures (such as eroded coastlines or snowflakes) in which similar patterns recur at progressively smaller scales, and in describing partly random or chaotic phenomena such as crystal growth, fluid turbulence, and galaxy formation.

I started looking at fractal art and fell in love with it. There were so many possibilities with this type of art, and I wanted to learn how to make it. I started reading online tutorials from other fractal artists, and experimenting with my own ideas. This is how my first series of digital art came into being, and I opened my shop to sell my art.

After college, I got married and started a family, and stepped away from making art for a while. When I came back to my fractal program, I realized that it was good, but I wanted to take my art in another direction. In college I had always loved oil painting, especially the Impressionists, and I knew that I wanted to try and use Apophysis to create my own 'digital oil paintings'. I tried a new fractal flame editor called Chaotica and absolutely loved it, and also downloaded a tool called ChaosHelper to assist in colorizing my pieces. My new Fine Art series is the result of my latest attempt to paint with fractals, and I hope you all enjoy viewing them as much as I've enjoyed creating them.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you've enjoyed my shop.

I create beautiful digital prints that are one of a kind. My art is inspired by nature, music, and oil painting. I create all my prints on a Mac computer using a program called Chaotica. I love being able to bring a painterly feel to my digital creations, and find the juxtaposition between the natural forms in my paintings and the method of their creation really interesting.
