Let me begin by saying - I DO NOT WORK FOR THESE PEOPLE and THIS REVIEW IS GENUINE! This was the BEST tea purchase I've ever made! I have been a tea person all my life. Of late, I've noticed the store tea - yes even lipton, doesn't seem the same. When I can, I look for and purchase loose leaf tea to make sure it's the "real deal" and not filled with "filler material" and let me assure you - THIS IS NOT! It is perfect! The package is honest, sized correctly and the tea - 100% out of this world excellent! It came swiftly and was delivered to the door. I opened it and could smell the freshness - real tea! Upon opening the package, I smiled because not only is it NOT bleached paper, it's re-sealable. The tea leaves were just right - NOT crushed into a mass of splintered up leaves. I quickly brewed a cup and perfection!

About

When you support The Bleeding Leaf Tea Co, you are supporting a student's small business & big dreams.

I've loved tea since the first cup of orange spice tea made for me by my grandmother, but I first became deeply interested in natural therapies after developing a midgut volvulus and nearly dying when I was 17-years-old.
My life was saved by a really good surgeon, but I spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals over the years and went through a few surgeries to repair my intestines. Due to having Crohn's and adhesions, as well as being very sensitive to the pharmaceutical options, I did not do well, and continued looking for solutions and learning to cope emotionally with my permanent illness.

After some time adjusting, and after a life-altering conversation with a fellow patient while in the hospital, I began pursuing natural options. I started small, with helpful food options and tea with herbs like lavender, chamomile, willow bark, and ginger root. I spent years independently studying natural therapies and poring over books. With a normal share of trial and error, (such as a few icky teas along the way) I was gradually able to completely replace the pills with plant medicines, tea, nutritional therapies, and aromatherapy. These options help me cope with the many varied issues of having Crohn's disease, as well as the emotional effects of being chronically ill.

At the advice of friends I have made tea for over the years, I opened this tea shop in 2010. It has been remarkable in fueling my sense of purpose and in helping me to further define my dreams and goals for the future, and my customers have helped to inspire me more than they can imagine. I have crafted for amazing customers around the world, including France, Belgium, Australia, Finland, U.K., Canada, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Singapore, Switzerland, Russia, and The Netherlands.

There have been a lot of ups and downs and life alterations since I opened my shop, and I am still standing. Now I use my love for tea and my knowledge of plants, herbs, and spices to craft organic, healthy, made-to-order teas for sale to help me as I work toward my Associates Degree in Complimentary Alternative Medicine. I have hopes that I may one day contribute to expanding options for people such as myself with long term health issues who may not do so well with pharmaceutical options.

Additionally, I craft tea because I have a gift for alchemy with flavors and scents, and I love to craft personalized tea blends for any kind of tea drinker. I especially enjoy making teas that tell a unique story. I dry locally grown fruit for all my fruit tea blends so they taste like the fruit and spices that are in them instead of a chemical concoction from the market, and so they are actually good for you.

Other interests include (but are not limited to) reading, writing, photography, sewing, knitting, baking, drawing, painting, comic books, art of all forms, ballet, music, CAM research studies and essays, animals, botany and all things plant related, and the healing arts.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and have a lovely day my dear tea lovers!

Best wishes, good health, and many a good brew to you-
