Helllllooo there! And welcome to my shop, my story and my dream!
I am a wife and mother to two very handsome young men, as well as a dog mom to two goofy doggers and one kitty (King Maddox)! If you happen by our Instagram page, every now and again, one of them may sneakily appear in my feed.
I'll start with the name, the Blue Goose. Most ask me where it comes from and if there is anything significant, or special behind it. The short answer, no. The long answer, picture this...I'm on the treadmill at 5:30 in the morning, catching up on emails, social media, etc. And literally, out of nowhere the name "The Blue Goose" just hit me.
Ironically, I call my youngest son, "Goose". Again, no idea why or how that came about. And, he has blue eyes. That is the only correlation there is to the name.

Now onto the other fun stuff, my story.
My love for crafting and creating began when I was in my late teens, early twenties when I was first introduced to it by my (then) boyfriends mother. She was a very talented woman, with lots of patience and a desire to teach me her ways! My boyfriend was an artist and in school to become a graphic designer, so even more creativity surrounding me. We got our first home together and experimented with all sorts of things from furniture, to home decor/design and even started making our own holiday wood decor. It was then that realized I really enjoyed making things, or giving something old, another shot at life (still my favorite part).
Fast forward several years, a divorce, 2 kids and lots of ups and downs later, I found myself a single mom of 2 boys and I was struggling to make ends meet. It was a very scary time for us. Whenever I could get my hands on something inexpensive to redo for our home, I would. It was important to me that they could look around our apartment and see a home, not an empty house. Not because material things are important, but I wanted it to feel warm, cozy, safe and full of love. There was a period of 6 months (completely unemployed for the first time since I was 15) or so, where I was redoing almost everything including a dresser in the middle of the kitchen and living room of our tiny apartment to keep me busy and give new life to some old and tired things. I also learned that this was the next best thing to therapy for me!
Now lets fast forward a bit more to current day.
I met a wonderful man almost 4 years ago, he loved the boys the minute he met them and vice versa. SCORE! We got married 2 years ago on the beautiful beaches of Punta Cana, where my boys got to experience not just their first vacation ever, but a trip out of the country. What an amazing blessing!!! Earlier this year, we had a life altering moment and all of the talks about me, my passion and my dream, somehow evolved and went from "talks" to reality! Thanks to that hubby of mine and his encouragement. It became a conversation where we decided that "some day" may never come if we didn't take the first step!
I've been making and/or re-purposing just about anything I could get my hands, including furniture on a fairly consistently basis for several years now. I even started becoming brave enough to start making gifts for my family and friends and finding myself loving the joy of that even more than just making stuff for our home.
With that, of course I was posting on Facebook and IG the items I was making and our non-local friends began to message me asking how they could get those items since they did not live close. After a handful of those moments, and the encouragement of some great friends, lots of thought and discussions with my husband, I decided it was time to branch out and offer my handmade items here. My hope is that I now have the opportunity to offer my items not just to those close to me, but everyone.
This has all been a wonderful experience and journey that has been a continuous learning opportunity as well as providing me with the ability to cross paths some wonderful people. I am very grateful to have the ability and opportunity to live out a portion of my dream.
