The Blue Studio and the little expat that could
"Draw everything and every day." That's what my grandmother Mary used to tell me. She was my first (and favorite) art teacher. From the first time she took me into her little home art studio and let me dabble with paints and pastels, I've been hooked. Whether it's drawing, painting, dancing, making pottery, writing, cooking...I've always had the incredible desire to use my hands and body to create.
I studied Art History and Italian language and literature at the University of Pittsburgh, which was the catalyst that sent me to study in Florence, Italy. After one semester here, then a summer, I decided to move over for good. Throw in an Italian husband and a little orange tabby, a hand-full of odd jobs and new friends, and that's been my three years in a nutshell. Now that I'm settled in with a great part-time teaching job, I figured it was finally time to open-up my own Etsy shop and start selling my work.
My watercolors are inspired by my life in Italy, my balcony herb garden, my cooking habits (a fusion of Pennsylvanian-Tuscan fare), American folk music and the students at my English school. I really enjoy personalizing my work, so if you have any ideas for a custom piece, please share them!
