About

Attitude and Gratitude makes a life

The Bossy Cow and Bossy Cow Designs are one woman's creative passion; I am that woman my name is Laura Mae, I am "the Bossy Cow"; just ask my husband he will tell you.
I am so happy you have stopped by and I hope you will take just a minute to learn a little about me and my business.
I moved to Spokane, Washington from Ohio in 2005 with my youngest sister. After two years I decided it was time to move on and head to Arizona; to be closer to my daughter in New Mexico. Well just as my plans were taking shape I met the most wonderful man and as they say the rest is history. We married in December of 2011 in Las Vegas it was fantastic. We didn't want to just go to Vegas and get married. So we planned an 1880's theme and I set out to make our wedding attire. Which I feel is my greatest sewing accomplishment (pictured here). I designed my dress and made everything except my husband's pants.
After watching me over the couple of weeks putting our clothes together and seeing the finished results; he suggested it was time for me to follow my dream. So with his support and encouragement I decided to start an Etsy shop. It was a difficult task just coming up with a name. It took months every time we decided on one it was not available on Etsy. Then after the third failure my husband suggested “The Bossy Cow”. It's a funny story back when we were first dating, he actually said to me “Oh don’t be such a bossy cow.” At the time I nearly floored him. Then I explained to him that I was born “BOSSY” in bold capitals letters; so deal with it! Of course now we laugh about it all the time. And thus I was in business with an Etsy shop and so "The Bossy Cow" was born. I even tried a few local Craft Fairs and other events which then lead to a Facebook page and finally a website.
Basically I am a seamstress; my specialties are fabulous and functional one of kind handbags and totes. Along with made to order hoodies for dogs, dog coats for those hard to fit large breed dogs and just for fun sleeping masks, along with a variety of hats.
The Bossy Cow is a wife, a mother a sister, a friend, and an artist. I am a passionate animal lover, traveler and photographer. I find inspiration everywhere. I feel attitude is only second to gratitude. For it is with a positive attitude and a grateful heart one can accomplish any dream. In the spirit of gratitude I give back by supporting charities with my natural born talent for sewing. Making special items directed towards specific causes brings joy to my heart. It is my way of paying it forward. Donated items can be seen on my Facebook page.
