I'm here to learn, and to love the process!
Welcome to the shop! As a general rule of thumb, I am terrible at “about me” sections, but we’re going to give it the old college try. I am a Master Naturalist by day, nerd by night, and an aspiring bookbinder. My work background is in non-profits and Victim Advocacy for victims of human trafficking and domestic violence.
Like it did for many others, the recent pandemic brought a slew of unexpected changes to my life. My life was filled with a great deal of uncertainty as my world became more and more turbulent. After many trials, though, I am now stay-at-home as I take online courses in pursuit of a new career. My days are marked by nature hikes, black-thumbed attempts at gardening, and my Great Pyrenees, Rosie, bossing me around.
This past year I fell into bookbinding the way I have fallen into hundreds of hobbies before it, deep diving by obsessively researching it and making list upon list of supplies and ideas. In the past when I would pick up a new hobby I would complete one project, and then I would forget all about it and move on to my next obsession. This hobby cycling has always been incredibly frustrating for me, but this time it was different. This time I finished that first project and immediately craved another, and another, and another… until the obsession became a genuine passion.
I am excited to be here, opening this shop and sharing my creations with you. I’ve learned so much already, and there’s still a lot to learn. I cherish every bumbled bind, every success, and every triumphant completion. And, now, we can cherish them together.
