We believe gold should be extracted and processed in a manner that respects the needs of people and the earth. We encourage our business partners to adhere to responsible business practices. With that in mind, we are actively asking our suppliers to affirm to us, in writing, their commitment to the responsible sourcing of gold. We believe a commitment to responsible gold must include suppliers, to ensure that responsible practices are addressed at every point in the supply chain. Without the engagement of all segments of our industry, retailers’ individual pledges to source responsibly will not be meaningful. We strongly support the efforts of our trade association, Jewelers of America, to collectively ensure good practices at every level of the supply chain. JA actively participates in and supports initiatives such as the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM), the Diamond Development Initiative International (DDII), and the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA). We are therefore very much involved in not only ensuring we understand the issues as they stand, but in helping to resolve them.
Our Policy on Conflict-free Diamonds
Conflict diamonds are rough diamonds illegally traded by rebels to fund armed conflicts with legitimate governments. Though most of the conflicts that originally sparked public awareness of the problem in 1999 have ended (such as those in Sierra Leone and Angola), there are still a few trouble spots in Africa where conflicts continue and some diamonds may be involved. The Kimberley Process (KP), launched in 2002, regulates 99% of the rough diamond trade worldwide, through a system of import/export controls that prevents conflict diamonds from entering the legitimate supply chain. Key industry representatives, including Jewelers of America, worked with governments and human rights groups (often called non-governmental organizations, or NGOs) around the world to bring about this solution to the conflict diamond problem. KP is supported and mandated by the United Nations with 75 nations currently participating. Diamonds are meant to be a gift of love, and we at The Classic Gem abhor the way in which some gems have been used to fund conflict. To prevent the sale of conflict diamonds, governments, our industry and human-rights groups created the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) in 2002, which today regulates 99% of the rough diamond supply.

At The Classic Gem, we stand behind every product we sell. We do everything we can to offer you beautiful, original, fine jewelry. However, if for any reason you are not completely satisfied, you may exchange your purchase within 14 days from date of purchase. If you received a gift and you know it was purchased here, please provide proof of purchase/gift and you may exchange for something of lesser or equal value.
The item must be returned in its original condition along with all documents and sales receipt that accompanied it when it was purchased. Any items that show signs of wear, have been altered, damaged, engraved, or resized will not be accepted for return. We will refund shipping, handling and insurance costs in case of an error on our part. Please note that all special order or custom design item sales are final as your final sign-off and acknowledgement is required prior to production.
