Announcement   "NO ONE MAKES COIN RINGS LIKE THE COIN SMITH" These coin rings have a true timeless flavor that attract buyers from every age group and gender.

The Coin Smith's double sided coin rings stand out from others for two reasons. First, The Coin Smith uses a better grade of coin. He only chooses coins with nice clean details that will be expressed in the final product. Second, through years of silver working experience The Coin Smith has perfected the process of turning a coin into a beautiful coin ring (not an easy task). We think you'll agree, that the quality of the coins used and superb workmanship come together nicely.

Don't miss the interesting story behind how and why The Coin Smith started making these unique coin rings, read about it in my ((Profile)).

ABOUT THESE RINGS:
Each ring starts with a hand-selected circulated coin from decades past, then using techniques perfected through years of practice, the flat, round coin is skillfully crafted and shaped into a 3-D ring like that pictured above, retaining the coin's individual characteristics both inside and out, it is then sized and finished, either polished to a high gloss or accent polished to retain the coin's natural patina (toning). We apply a clear jewelry sealer to coin rings made from non-precious metals like nickel, copper and brass. This helps preserve the finish and makes it possible to wear these rings even if you are normally sensitive or react to these metals. Each ring will come with a handsome velvet draw string pouch, suitable for presentation.

Such a cool concept. I got it for my Fiance for his wedding band. He loves history, so to have a ring that has some history to it was a big plus for him. Excellent quality and fits perfectly! Now to just wait for the big day so he can wear it forever.

About

IT'S ALL ABOUT COIN RINGS

Welcome to The Coin Smith's Corner. I'd like to tell you a story about how and why I started making coin ring jewelry.

When I was a little kid growing up, my parents would visit my grandparents house about once a week for dinner. I grew to enjoy these get-togethers and developed a close relationship with my grandparents.

I remember my grandfather telling me stories about his childhood and his adventures in the Great American West during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. One story I can clearly remember is when my grandfather's parents took him along with his brothers and sisters to see Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. Not only were there lots of Indians and cowboys but Annie Oakley put on a shooting exhibition. One of her feats was to throw a silver dollar into the air and shoot a hole through it. When the coin was retrieved the hole was clearly displayed to the audience. As was her routine, she gave the coin to someone in the stands. The recipient of that coin was my grandfather who treasured it all rest of his life. I must have asked to see that coin a hundred times along with a request to retell the story. Anyway, when my grandfather passed away, he left that coin to me, I can’t tell you what it means to me.

I have looked at that coin hundreds of times through the years. About 35 years ago I noticed something about that coin that I hadn’t noticed before. The hole is not a clean cut hole like a hole in a washer but rather a ragged hole caused by the bullet pushing through the coin. Before the bullet broke through the coin and exited the other side it pulled a good portion of the coin along with it. When I was a little kid I would stick my finger through the hole and wear the coin like a ring.

This got me thinking, was it possible to turn a coin inside out and into a ring? It seemed impossible at first but through trial and error I finally figured it out. I’m not going to reveal my techniques but suffice to say, I have perfected a method of turning a flat, round coin into a 3-D coin ring. There are other methods of turning a coin into a ring but the method I use preserves the coin’s detail on both the inside and outside of the ring. Truly unique.

I have been making coin rings for friends and relatives for almost Thirty five years. The comments I receive when I wear mine range from amazement to questions about how they are made, and will I make them one? It was my wife who convinced me to start selling them. So, now you can have your very own Coin Ring made by The Coin Smith (That’s me).

I hope you like my offerings. Lots of hard work goes into each ring. And each coin has a story, maybe not as interesting as my grandfathers Annie Oakley coin. Maybe your ring will have a date that is significant to you or some other aspect of interest. Or maybe you just want a unique piece of finely crafted jewelry or a gift, either way, its sure to draw lots of attention and comments, that I guarantee.

Tell Me About Refunds, Exchanges and Free Ring Resizing

When a Coin Ring is custom made for you. I will do whatever possible to remedy a problem, but I cannot offer a Refund or Exchange on something I made just for you... thanks for understanding.

You are responsible for providing me an accurate ring size. If I make the ring to the size you specify and it does not fit, I will resize it for free (if possible). Contact me before sending your ring back for resizing. I'll give you instructions on what I need to process your request. Resizing does not require cutting so no scars are created.

Coin Rings that are already made in a stated size and ready for immediately delivery are eligible for a refund or exchange as stated in my Policies.

How Are Coin Rings Sized?

There is always a slight taper associated with double sided coin rings. This taper will either show up on the inside of the ring or on the outside. This is due to the outer edge of the coin being thicker than the center of the coin, which will become the outer edge of the ring when it is finished. Rather than end up with the taper on the outside where it would diminish the ring's appearance, we choose to leave the taper on the inside. This produces a more symmetrical looking ring when worn. When we measure the ring we go by the end of the ring with the smallest diameter to determine the size.

What is Meant By IMPERFECT PERFECTION?

Because my jewelry is made by hand from circulated coins, normal wear and slight imperfections may be noticed. But this is the beauty of handmade.

**All of my coin rings are made from circulated coins unless otherwise stated.

All photography is done by me in natural sunlight to capture the true colors and beauty as closely as possible. Closeup photographs are to show detail but may give the impression that an item or detail is larger than it actually is. Colors may vary depending on your monitor.

Will A Copper Coin Ring Stain My Finger?

Copper coins are very popular for coin rings. It's an inexpensive metal that is found in many coins. If your hands tend to perspire, it is possible for a green stain to occur on the skin under the ring. Rest assured, the stains are harmless and can be removed with soap and water. Best Advice: Try to wear high content copper rings less or only for short periods of time. Applying a clear jewelry sealer or clear nail polish will help.

We plate copper edged clad coins and clear seal copper coins. This plating and seal will wear off allowing the copper underneath to react as stated above. Coin rings with a low copper content do not normally cause staining.

Metal Sensitivity

Allergic reactions: There is no way for us to be 100% certain how anyone will react to a certain material until they try wearing it. Nickel is the frequent cause of allergic reactions. If a person knows for certain they have a nickel sensitivity or allergy, or they find that they tend to react to any metal, then we would suggest they choose a coin ring made from an alternate material. Stop wearing any jewelry that causes an allergic reaction.

Are Coin Rings Legal?

LEGAL OR NOT ???
As long as you are not altering the coin to commit fraud (trying to use the coins as legal tender after being altered), then it is perfectly legal. According to the United States Code, Title 18, Part I, Chapter 17.33, i
