About The Dicey Dungeon, and the Dice Master

Dive into The Dicey Dungeon for interactive RPG jewelry, cute wearable loot, and lots of "dicey" jewelry and accessories. All of the Dungeon's loot is handcrafted by Dice Master Mallory, the forever DM, artist, and an obsessive dice goblin. Need to stock up on Potions of Healing? Does your party's spellcaster need an Arcane Focus, or a stash of spell scrolls? Steer your next adventure toward The Dicey Dungeon to find all these and much more.

My name is Mallory, and I’m the owner and Dice Master of The Dicey Dungeon. Originally from Alaska, I began experimenting with dice craft while attending college in Ohio. After I started DMing an extended campaign with some school friends, my love of the dice has grown until dice craft became my favorite hobby. I've always been fascinated with storytelling, and I'm captivated by the element of randomness created by dice in tabletop role playing games.

Among other artistic hobbies, I continue to pursue dice craft because I enjoy the process of creating. Each item holds its own story for me about where I found my materials, the level of my skill when the item was crafted, the challenges of various techniques, and why I chose and accomplished each design. Because of this, all items listed for sale in the Dungeon are unique. The Dungeon does not produce its loot on an assembly line. Each dicey treasure is crafted with care and interest. These items are listed for sale primarily because I want to share them with others, and the prices are set with a mind of recuperating some of what I’ve invested into the hobby.

I had been practicing dice craft for almost a year before I finally took the step of opening an Etsy shop and selling my creations online. By then I had created well over a hundred dicey accessories which included necklaces, earrings, keychains, and bracelets. While I was able to sell some of my stock from Superfly Comics in Yellow Springs (where I also bought the vast majority of my dice), I finally heeded the advice of my friends and took the next step.

The Dicey Dungeon online opened in March of 2019. My online inventory grew rapidly over the next several months as my college graduation neared and work on my senior capstone project intensified. Practicing art has always been a method of stress relief for me, so I put nearly as much work into my dice craft in those months as I did into my school work. I wore my favorite set of Gemini D10 earrings, D20 necklace, and D12 bracelet to my graduation in June.

Since graduating I’ve continued to enjoy my dicey hobby, running the Etsy shop, and being a part of the RPG community. I still love to play D&D with my friends and siblings, and I don’t plan to quit anytime soon.

Frequently asked questions
Wholesale availability

For wholesale purchases, please send me a message to inquire directly.

While The Dicey Dungeon is happy to accommodate where possible, please keep in mind that the vast majority of items listed for sale in the Dungeon are unique. I pursue dice craft (and many other artistic hobbies) because I enjoys the process of creating. For example, it would be difficult to fill a request for the wholesale purchase of "50 Sets of Blue Marble D4 Earrings." However, a request such as "50 Sets of D4 Earrings" with allowance for variety in dice color/style would be much easier to fill. If a buyer had a collection of 50 pairs of blue marble D4s for me to work with however, custom wholesale work would be doable.

Custom and personalized orders

If you are interested in seeking a custom or personalized order, please send me a direct message inquire. Alterations to established listings are usually doable, as is the creation of new items made with dice and other materials that the Dungeon already has in stock, or which are easily acquired. Buyers are welcome to ship their dice to The Dicey Dungeon for custom work.

Looking for a specific spell scroll or potion that you don't see listed? I'm happy to create customized scrolls and potions. Just send me a message to inquire!

Gift wrapping and packaging

For an additional fee, The Dicey Dungeon is happy to offer giftwrapping. Items can be wrapped with colorful organza bags, gift boxes, wrapping paper, ribbons, and washi tape. Buyers can include a message to the recipient with their gift, and it will be included on card stock.

What role playing game do you base your cosplay items on?

Cosplay items in The Dicey Dungeon, such as potion jewelry and spell scrolls, are generally based on 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons.

Each cosplay item's listing description usually includes the item's features and effects as though it were something that your character could use in-game. That description is included on a printed card when you buy one of these items from The Dicey Dungeon.

I generally base my cosplay items on D&D 5E because that's the game I have the most personal experience with, but you can easily adapt/modify the in-game mechanics of a cosplay item to suit your needs if you have a preference for other RPG's.

Are jewelry metals in the Dungeon nickel-free?

Most of the jewelry metals in the Dungeon are nickel-free. Check in the listing description to see if something is labeled as "nickel-free," though keep in mind that some nickel-free items might not be labeled. When in doubt, send me a message to inquire! If you want to be certain that an item is nickel-free before you buy it, I'm happy to accommodate by swapping out chain, clasps, hooks, or any other metal parts on the Dungeon's jewelry.

The items most likely not to be nickel-free are the oldest listings from when the Dungeon's budget for materials was still very limited. As the Dungeon has grown and become more successful, I've been able to invest in higher quality materials over time. New listings are almost always nickel-free.

Does TDD carry clip-on earrings?

While clip-ons aren't listed, I do have nickel-free clip-ons available. Just send me a message, and I can easily switch out the fishhook or threader findings for clip-on earrings.

I want to buy something from outside the USA, but the international shipping rate seems unreasonably high. Is there something that can be done about this?

Yes. It often happens that Etsy overestimates the cost of shipping at checkout, especially when a person buys multiple items. For example, if someone in Sweden wanted to buy 9 keychains from me, their shipping cost at checkout might total over $60. In reality, this package would cost me less than $15 to ship, even internationally. (True story! Real example.)

If your international shipping charge seems unreasonable, contact me before making your purchases so that I can accommodate the issue. After I've dropped the package off at the post office, I can also offer a partial refund for the difference between the estimated and actual cost of shipping.
