The loveliest painting. It's truly beautiful. Thank you so much!

As a child, much of my time was spent in a world that, to me, seemed magical; I spent many of my days playing in the woods and collecting all sorts of natural treasures, which I'd often use as inspiration for my drawings and poems, along with various wildlife. After I "grew up", I continued to pursue a creative lifestyle, which has included studying and practicing aesthetics/makeup arts right out of high school, and then later, attending visual arts school where I studied art education with an emphasis in painting. However, it wasn't until the summer of 2012 that I began envisioning new works that, once again, interwove my passion for art with my love of nature, and The Elusive Beast began to emerge.
My artistic influences include Surrealism, fairy tales, kitsch, a little Art Nouveau at times, medieval bestiaries, and other myths revolving around real and imagined animals. I am most inspired when I am surrounded by nature, listening to music while incense is burning, and during my dreams.
Through the use of unexpectedly juxtaposed symbols and frequent repetition of color between subject and background, I paint ethereal, dream-like representations of the natural, physical world. Oftentimes, gold and bronze pigments adorn the ethereal creatures in my tiny paintings and drawings. As a lover of animals and a dreamer at heart, I hope to capture nature as precious, sacred, and almost magical. Sometimes I have very specific meanings in mind, but overall, I like my art to feel somewhat mysterious and elusive, like the mythical unicorn my shop is named after.
I hope you find something here that inspires you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out and ask!
