Announcement   Greetings! Wishing you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and a lovely holiday season in general!! Holiday shopping season is underway! Everything in my shop is handmade and made-to-order, please allow about 2 weeks for me to make your item. Large orders of multiple items may need more time. US shipping takes 3-4 days and international shipping may take up to two weeks on top of my processing times. Please order early to ensure delivery. For delivery by Christmas, please order by December 6 for US orders, and November 24 for international orders. Yes, the deadlines are early... it because everything is handmade! Thanks for understanding.

Send me a convo if you have any questions or need something by a specific deadline. I make everything from scratch, so if you need customizations in size, color of fabric, embroidery, or clip attachment, let me know!

I create nature inspired fiber art, including hand-knit scarves with embroidered leaves, freehand embroidered leaf and flower fascinators, and my big fiber art dresses & hats. It's a botanical wonderland full of color and life with a bit of a folklore and faerie world twist!

I do take custom orders. I have a large selection of fabric and thread colors (more than I have up on Etsy), so if you see something you like but need it in a different size or color, I'll be happy to do it. I also love challenging requests! Please give up to 4 weeks for custom orders.

Payment plans are available for my scarves and for moths- in either 2 or 3 payment installments. If interested, just contact me. All my scarves are one-of-kind creations. I can do scarves in custom colors, and can also make scarves with similar color schemes as seen in my "sold orders" section. A brand new teal leaf scarf! Created with a combination of knitting, crochet, free motion embroidery, and needle felting. The main body of the scarf is made with super soft merino wool yarn by Madelinetosh. All leaves are made of silk dupioni.
An assortment of finished and in progress embroideries - a pink rose, scarlet pimpernel (in coral and saffron), various ivy leaves (for a new crown and headband design), monarch butterfly, Isis moth, and my red Icelandic poppy in the 3.5" size.
I can tailor any design with custom colors to match your outfit! Peacock feather headbands made of peridot green and teal silk show how the same design can be customized.

About

The Faerie Market is an emporium of enchanted wearable art, created by textile artist Betsie Withey.

I've always been inspired by nature, folklore, color, and obsessively detail-oriented work.

With a background in painting, I started learning how to sew late in college after my Oma gave me her old Singer sewing machine. I took to sewing at once. I found I could harness my love of color in all the rich fabrics available! I started sewing leaves, flowers, and all manner of other natural wonders. I love to make costumes, wearable sculptures, and small pieces of wearable art.

I specialize in a technique of embroidery called free motion embroidery. It is like drawing free hand with the sewing machine. Everything is individually made, and every stitch is hand guided by me. In addition, I also incorporate hand embroidery, bead-work, knitting, and crochet into my work.

I love making lovely objects of wearable art that make people feel beautiful and special.

I love creating vivid, imaginative fiber works to wear, admire, and that create a sense of wonder. With all my wearable pieces, it's my desire to create both a feeling of enchantment and a little island of color that the wearer can take into her everyday life.

I pride myself on my original designs, quality materials- such as luxury wool & blended yarns and shimmery silk fabrics, top quality construction techniques, and great customer service.

All creations you see here are my designs and are made by my hands alone. The embroidered leaves and felted elements on my scarves are an extension of the larger, sculptural, costume-inspired work I create.

Enjoy looking & feel free to contact me!
