The Feeling of Kindness recently launched three necklace lines. While each necklace we create is unique, there are a few themes and designs that are common across necklaces. Here are the new lines:

RADIANT KINDNESS
Our choker necklaces with freely swinging gilt medallions floating among colorful stones including lapis, quartz, onyx, jasper, aventurine, just to name a few (we work with almost every kind of stone imaginable). Like all of our necklaces, these are all assembled here in Austin and make us dream of all the memorable places and people we treasure.

NATURAL KINDNESS
Our Bodhi leaves are specially crafted and custom designed by myself and made from scratch by Zach of Rockcycled. These pendants originate as a sheet of Argentium silver. Each leaf is drawn onto a sheet of paper, cut from the silver, and oxidized. Finally, 24k gold leaf is fused to the silver surface using heat and pressure, an ancient Korean gilding technique known as Keum-Boo.

The leaves from the Bodhi tree, found in India, inspired me. Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment under a Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya ca. 500 B.C.E., a place in India that is considered one of the holiest of Buddhist sites. Kindness is one of the core tenets of Buddhism and the Bodhi leaf is a wonderful reminder to uphold this value.

EXLUSIVE KINDNESS
Centered around stones acquired during my global travels spanning the last 50 years and secured through a rock cutter or directly from a mine. With these necklaces, we design each individually with a unique style not found in our other pieces. They come together slowly and are crafted one piece at a time.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Stones
– According to the International Gem Society (IGS) the safest way to clean stones is to soak them in warm soapy water, clean with a very soft brush, and dry with a soft cloth.
– Not all gems or jewelry can be soaked—porous gems such as turquoise should not be soaked.
– Reference the specific instructions for cleaning your gemstone(s) at: www.gemsociety.org/article/care-maintenance-gemstones
– There are many caveats and best consult with your jeweler if you are uncertain.

Brass
– Brass does tarnish.
– Jewelers recommend dipping the brass—not the stone—into a solution of water and dish soap, then drying the piece quickly with a microfiber cloth.

Jewelry That Speaks To The Heart

和 - harmonious, peace, calm, to join in agreement, warm

Jewelry harmonizing responsibility and kindness.

After some thirty years in the Asian art business I have started supporting three charities through my passion for creating necklaces.

I know the charity founders and the effectiveness of their programs first hand:
1. Hearts for Teachers (https://littleangelsserviceteam.org/hearts-for-teachers) supports quality education for the marginalized children in rural India through the retention of excellent teachers.
2. Sahar (https://sahareducation.org/) supports girls' and boys' education in Northern Afghanistan through a holistic approach by building schools, educational and vocational training programs and early marriage prevention programs.
3. ROOTS of South Sudan (https://www.rootsofsouthsudan.org/) trains women to help them towards economic independence, education, and health care by creating traditional crafts and bead work.
I have followed the work of all three non-profits for many years.

The stones found in my pieces have been collected from all over the globe to create special designs often one of a kind - that remind of the past and of a specific place, creating memories and stories and bonds with the hope that each piece will make a connection with the buyer and the person for whose benefit the jewelry was created - to convey responsibility and kindness.

These necklaces are not created and valued in terms of cost but with the influence they have in design, color, relationship of old and new, Eastern and Western style and the benefit they are creating.

The Feeling of Kindness jewelry is designed, handmade, and assembled in Austin, Texas.

Thank you!
