Repurposed and Recycled Woodworking Products

Woodworking has captivated me ever since I was young. My fascination began while observing my great-grandfather and my fellow neighbor, who worked with their hands in carpentry. And, after watching Woodwright’s Shop on PBS, I was hooked – for life. I realized that with a sharp tool, a piece of wood, and a little imagination, I could create functional pieces of art. And I’ve been doing it ever since.

My workshop is located in a 100-year-old chicken coop near the shores of Lake Michigan, and its solitude is the perfect setting for my craft, which specializes in rescued and re-purposed materials. The Go Away Workshop (my Etsy shop) is a visual culmination of my interests and craftsmanship, ranging from driftwood tea light holders to massive display cabinets, and even vintage tools. I care deeply about my products, which is why I seek to obtain all wood material myself. It’s a process – but one I fully enjoy.

You see, while some love watching thunderstorms, I love the aftermath. With a backpack in tow, I collect soaking wet driftwood that has washed up on the beach, and after hiking up 80 steps with the wood on my back, I dry it near my woodstove. When I need to obtain other types of wood, I acquire it through my brother’s business or from trees I salvage, mill and dry myself. I deeply believe in the value of using materials that are forgotten or discarded; often, they create the most beautiful pieces.

I individually design each of my products, letting the rugged and simplistic beauty of the wood speak for itself; my job is to simply mold it into a unique and functional piece. While I am much more experienced than my early days of watching PBS, my passion hasn’t shifted; I love woodworking and consider it an honor to do this daily.

Custom orders and reserved listings must be paid within 24 hours of being posted online. I will not put a "Reserved" status on items in my shop that are not handmade,i.e. tools.

Paper Invoice: If you wish for a paper invoice be included with your shipment, please convo me and I will be happy to pack one with your purchase.
Postage overages will be refunded to the nearest dollar. Items are shipped Monday through Friday, except on holidays. It may take up to 48 hours for an item to be shipped. All shipments are insured, no exceptions. Tracking numbers are provided.

Shipping: The Go Away Woodshop strives to process and ship orders as soon as possible. However, if the item has not arrived during the time frame that USPS or other mail carrier has specified it is not fault or liability of The Go Away Woodshop.

Damaged packages: Buyer will be required to photograph damaged packaging as well as any damages the item may have received during shipment. Please submit photos to The Go Away Woodshop within 48 hours of receipt of the damaged item. Insurance claims will be submitted promptly.

Undelivered packages: Packages that cannot be delivered by the carrier and are returned via carrier's discretion will not be refunded. Be sure to verify that your shipping address is correct.

Stolen packages: If the packaged is marked as delivered and theft is suspected please refer to USPS or FedEx policies in regard to the matter.

There is no international shipping.
Refunds and Exchanges
All products are sold as is and no refunds are awarded. Please convo me if you need additional photos or information about an item. All items are insured during shipment.
