Le mie avventure sono iniziate quando avevo solo 19 anni e io e il mio ragazzo di allora abbiamo deciso di scappare e sposarci, da soli, senza il permesso o la benedizione dei nostri genitori per capriccio perché beh "quando sai, sai, giusto ?" Quello è stato l'inizio della mia vita avventurosa e dirò che dopo aver festeggiato il nostro sedicesimo anno di matrimonio (felicemente!) quest'anno, la nostra storia d'amore è di gran lunga la mia preferita.
La mia prossima avventura di Graytest è arrivata solo un paio d'anni dopo che mi sono sposata, quando mi sono diplomata alla scuola per infermiere. Sono entrato subito come infermiera pediatrica in terapia intensiva e da allora non ho più guardato indietro. Ho imparato così tanto su me stesso, la vita, l'amore e l'inesorabile coraggio e resilienza del più piccolo dei pazienti prendendomi cura di quei bambini malati al capezzale. Prendermi cura dei kiddos più malati e piccoli è stata l'esperienza più gratificante della mia vita... o almeno così pensavo.
Nel 2016 ho dato alla luce nostra figlia Paxton Gray e nel 2019 ho dato alla luce nostro figlio Oliver Benny. Ricordi quando ho detto che ho imparato così tanto sulla vita e sull'amore dall'essere un'infermiera di terapia intensiva? Beh, questo non tocca nemmeno le lezioni di vita e di amore che mi hanno insegnato finora e sono così grato per questa meravigliosa avventura che questa vita mi ha dato. Vuoi parlare dell'avventura più grigia di tutte? Sì, è questo.
Allora come è nata The Graytest Adventure? Beh, era giunto il momento di prendermi un po' di tempo lontano dal capezzale prendendomi cura di quei bambini super malati e dedicandomi a prendermi cura dei miei, quindi sono andato part time al lavoro. Mi è subito mancato tutto ciò che allattava, ma ho anche amato ogni minuto (okay, PER LA MAGGIOR PARTE ogni minuto) di essere madre, quindi ero combattuta. Sapevo che non volevo tornare a lavorare a tempo pieno fino a quando i miei figli non fossero andati a scuola, quindi cos'altro potevo fare per sentirmi come se stessi soddisfacendo i miei bisogni di stare vicino all'assistenza infermieristica e alla medicina pur continuando a dedicarmi ai miei figli e marito?
Ed è qui che è nata The Graytest Adventure.
Ho iniziato solo con magliette a tema infermieristico e medico, che io e i miei amici adoravamo indossare per lavorare mostrando il nostro amore per il campo e i nostri pazienti. Poi mi sono tuffato nell'aggiungere gli articoli Mommy and Me e poi anche le magliette delle coppie. Dal nostro inizio nel 2017 ci siamo espansi più di quanto avessi mai pensato possibile e ora offriamo anche una varietà di articoli non di abbigliamento e abbiamo continuato a pianificare di espanderci ulteriormente.
Perché per me il matrimonio, la maternità e l'allattamento sono le più grigie avventure della mia vita.

Have you found your Graytest Adventure yet?
My adventures started when I was just 19 and my then boyfriend at the time and I decided to run off and get married, alone, without any of our parents' permission or blessings on a whim because well "when you know, you know, right?" That was the start of my adventurous life and I will say after celebrating our 16th year of marriage (happily!) this year, our love story is by far my favorite.
My next Graytest Adventure came just a couple years after I got married when I graduated nursing school. I jumped right in as a pediatric ICU nurse and haven't looked back since. I have learned so much about myself, life, love, and the unrelenting bravery and resilience of the smallest of patients from caring for those sick kids at the bedside. Taking care of the sickest and smallest of kiddos had been the most rewarding experience of my life...or so I thought.
In 2016, I gave birth to our daughter Paxton Gray and in 2019, I gave birth to our son Oliver Benny. Remember when I said I learned so much about life and love from being an intensive care nurse? Well that doesn't even touch the lessons of life and love they have taught me so far and I am so thankful for this wonderful adventure this life has given me. You want to talk about the Graytest Adventure of them all? Yep, this is it.
So how was The Graytest Adventure born? Well it was time to take some time away from the bedside taking care of those super sick kiddos and dedicate myself to taking care of my own so I went part time at work. I immediately missed everything nursing but also loved every minute (okay, MOSTLY every minute) of being a mother so I was torn. I knew I didn't want to go back to work full-time until my kids were in school so what else could I do to feel like I was fulfilling my needs of staying close to nursing and medicine while still being dedicated to my children and husband?
And here is where The Graytest Adventure was born.
I started with just nursing and medical-themed t-shirts-ones that I my friends and I loved wearing to work showing off our love for the field and our patients. I then dove into adding Mommy and Me items and then Couples shirts as well. Since our start in 2017 we have expanded more than I ever thought possible and now offer a variety of non-apparel items as well and have continued plans to expand ever further.
Because for me- marriage, motherhood and nursing are The Graytest Adventures of my life.
