A versatile ukulele strap - no drilling necessary

The Hug Strap was invented because one day I accidentally sliced off the side of my left index finger using a rotary cutter to cut fabric. Up until that day, I had been a guitar player, but the accident left me with decreased sensitivity which made playing a 6 stringed instrument difficult. One depressingly cold winter, I bought a lavender ukulele in the hopes of entertaining my three year old. I discovered that I could easily play a 4 stringed uke and became hooked. 5 ukulele purchases later, I desired a strap to help support the instrument so I could play up the neck without feeling like I was constantly bent over it. After searching online and in stores, only able to find solutions that would either partially support the instrument or required the use of strap buttons which could potentially damage it, I decided to design my own. After several revisions, the Hug Strap was born.

The Hug Strap is unique because it allows adjustment at the headstock, in the main adjustable portion as well as the cinch strap which means it can fit any size ukulele from the Soprano size through the Baritone and it can be adjusted to be placed anywhere on the body (up high or low depending on your body size and preference for how to wear your uke.) It is handmade in the USA and comes in a variety of designer fabrics.

The Hug Strap has evolved over the last few years based on your feedback. I now offer a patent pending All in One Hug Strap that works on all sizes of waisted ukuleles including the U-Bass, as well as any type of ukulele with one or two strap buttons, and banjoleles. This strap can also be customized to work with pineapple shaped ukes that do not have a strap button upon request. It really can do it all.

Please feel free to contact me about custom fabrics, wholesale pricing, or with any other questions through etsy or at thehugstrap [!at] gmail.com.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

I can make straps in fabrics of your choosing as long as they are made of quilter's weight cotton or a home decor material that is not too slippery. Please contact me if you are looking for something special.

Sizing details

I have three sizes : kids (approximately 5-10 years old and meant for soprano/concert uke players), tweens/petite (approximately 11+ and/or petite adult women with a bust size of 32 B or smaller), adults. The sizing is based on girth around the chest rather than height, so these are approximate sizing guidelines.

Wholesale availability

We offer wholesale pricing to music stores - please contact me for details.

What's the difference between PLASTIC and METAL hardware?

Both are equally durable, but the straps with plastic hardware are a little quicker to remove because of the plastic cam buckle. If you think you might be removing your strap a lot, I recommend plastic over metal.
