Very cute pin!! It is larger than I imagined and will work well for my daughter's birthday!
Re-defining success while staying at home.
I opened my etsy shop when I was 7 months pregnant. I had just graduated from grad school and as a theatre actress with a prominent baby belly I found myself without prospects of work until well after baby was born. So to pass the time I started planning my baby's future nursery. Since I didn't know the sex of the baby I wanted to focus my energy on a theme to help get me through the uncertainty of waiting to learn the sex.
I immediately got attached to the idea of owls as I had found a sudden obsession with everything owl. But I was having a hard time finding owl products appropriate for a baby room which is why I started making my own things. And once I started making these items people kept telling me..."people would buy this Kirstin" and thats when I decided it couldn't hurt to see if they weren't right.
Turns out they were right! I never imagined so many people would want to buy my things. But I get a burst of pride with every sale I make.
About 6 months after my son was born I talked my crafty creative mother-in-law into joining me in my etsy adventure. I'd always admired her skills on a sewing machine and knew her crafts and vintage pieces would make an excellent addition to my shop.
I've always considered myself an artist and have always hated working mundane jobs that don't allow room for my creative juices to flow. So I made a vow to myself to make creativity my full time job.
Someone once said "Success is doing what you love with the people you love" and that is why I believe my business is a success. I get to be with my son every day, I get to collaborate with my mother in law...I get to do what I love, with the people I love. That is success to me!

We sell vintage and handmade goods.
Remember handmade means it is being lovingly made by an actual human being (me or my mother-in-law Kathy) and humans aren't perfect and neither are the things they make....what makes them special is that they were made with LOVE by an actual human...not a machine.
